A Healthy Diet Means a Healthier You

The term 'health food' is a bit of a misnomer. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration, which regulates the nutrition labels of food products, has not developed a valid definition to describe health food. Over decades a healthy food movement has evolved, which grew out of the hippie culture of the 1960s. Different descriptors have been added to describe food that is wholesome: healthy, natural, organic, and whole.

A bad dietary habit is the consumption of processed foods. This can range from processed meats and cheeses in deli cases, to pre-packaged dinners and snacks in the refrigerated and frozen food sections. These foods contain high amounts of sugar, salt, and fats, especially trans-fats. Processed foods such as cookies, doughnuts, pastries, cakes contain high fructose corn syrup, another toxic ingredient.

600-Pound Haitian Woman Dies; Fight Vs. Obesity Documented

Obesity has taken the life of Dominique Lanoise, whose fight and struggle against being overweight was documented. In a documentary produced by television show TLC, it can be seen how the 40-year-old Haitian woman spent the last few months of her life trying to lose weight.

Dominique Lanoise, who was living in Miami, Florida, weighed 625lbs, preventing her from walking and moving too much. She was virtually imprisoned in her own house for almost 20 years because she couldn't even get out of her own bed. No clothes can fit her and that was why she was only covered in sheets. Her daughters took turns in feeding, washing and caring for her.

Overweight Haitian woman, Dominique Lanoise, transported by Dominican Air Force

Do you remember the 500 pounds Haitian woman that the airline refused to flight to Miami because of her weight? Six Months later, the Dominican Air Force has come to her rescue.

We just learn that The Dominican Air Force will flight the Haitian woman of U.S. citizenship, Dominique Lanoise, to Miami as a humanitarian act.

Dominique Lanoise who is 40 years old, weighs almost 500 pounds and has been in the Dominican Republic for three months because all commercial lines so far have refused to fly her to Miami. Lanoise traveled from Miami to Port-au-Prince after the January 12 earthquake to visit her relatives, but when she came to the country to return to the U.S. the airlines refused to sell her a ticket because of her weight.
