Nursing is a noble occupation in which the focus is on the care of patients so they may regain or attain, then maintain their best health and a satisfactory quality of life. In Haiti, the nurses entering this field in the recent past are almost certainly graduates from one school, the Episcopal University of Haiti in Belval, Léogâne. The Faculty of Nursing Science of the Episcopal University took on its first class in January of 2005. In the 8 years since they've been in operation, the school has seen five graduating classes. The nursing course they offer is a four-year program, the only one of its kind in Haiti.

Episcopal University offers a baccalaureate in nursing and can do so because of the monetary help they get from the Haiti Nursing Foundation. Their Dean is Hilda Alcindor, BA, RN. She also sits on the school's board along with nearly twenty other board members from states in the US such as Illinois, Michigan, Florida, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina.

Students at Episcopal University are regularly given practical experience as they make clinical rounds in Haiti and even in the United States. Their stated purpose is to facilitate the progress of nursing in the Haitian Republic. As a nonprofit, they offer transparency on their documentation, including By-laws and Articles of Incorporation for download on their website. The school functions on donations and takes steps to give privacy back to those who give freely to them.

The Episcopal University of Haiti provides other disciplines at their faculties of Administrative Science, Communication Sciences and Public Relations, Education Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, Computer and Religious Sciences.
