Consul General of Haiti in New York, Charles Antoine Forbin

Charles Antoine Forbin, the Consul General of Republic of Haiti, will be chairing Consular Corps of New York's deliberations from 27th March, 2013 to 30th June, 2013 while Michel Martelly, President of Haiti, will ensure that CARICOM's (Community and Common Market) presidency keeps rotating. President Martelly has been ensuring this rotation since January 1, 2013 and will continue to do so until July 31, 2013. The deliberations of Consular Corps of New York, to be chaired by Charles Antonie Forbin, comprises of members of 12 participating countries.

The Consular Corps of New York will meet at Consulate General of the Republic of Haiti in New York's premises and will allow Haiti to get back into the position of a negotiator. In this forum provided by the CARICOM allows questions to be raised and issues to be discussed on Caribbean region's social, political and economic interests and Haiti will be in a position to air its voice. It will be a great opportunity for Haiti to speak about her problems and she can also provide suggestions for the betterment of the overall Caribbean region.

Haitian Women Honored by Consulate General of Haiti in Miami

On Sunday, 24 March, Miami's Cultural Section of the Consulate General of Haiti honored 12 women for their professionalism and creativity in community and humanitarian activities. This ceremony was held in Miami's Moca Café & Lounge. This ceremony was hosted by Émeline Michel, a famous singer from Haiti. The 12 women were awarded by "Beacon of Hope and Achievement Award". The ceremony was an outlet for thanking these women for their achievements and also to boost their morale for further contribution towards the development of the Haitian community.

The award was given out in turn by François Guillaume II (Miami's Consul General of the Republic of Haiti), Guy François Jr. (Vice-Consul), Mr. Isson Joseph (Consulate's Head for the Section of Community Services) and Cultural Section's Head. The 12 women who received the "Beacon of Hope and Achievement Award" were:

• Dr. Marie Etienne - Haitian American Nurses Association
• Kimberly Green - Green Family Foundation
• Judith Joseph - Breakfast with Santa

• Nadie Mondestin - Haitian Youth Community Center
• Major Franzia Brea-Burden - North Miami Police Department
• Paola Pierre - HACCOF (Haitian American Chamber of Commerce of Florida)
• Nadine Patrice - Operation Green Leaves, Inc.
• Gepsie Metellus - Sant-La
