Children sent home from school for wearing t-shirts with Haitian flag

You can call it school policy, racism or the new anti-Immigrant feeling being promoted by the Republican party leader Donald Trump. Some six Haitian children got kicked out of school in Immokalee, Florida on May 18, 2016 for just celebrating their Haitian flag. Jesola Pierre, on of the six children who proudly wore the Haitian flag and National coat of arms on Haitian flag day were sent, missing an entire day of school

There is one thing that Collier County school officials do not understand. Haitian flag day has a particular significance for people of Haitian descent. The flag we celebrate represents a symbol of pride for having led the first successful slave revolt and the creation of the first black republic in the Americas.

Lycee Alexandre Petion, now a modern institution in Haiti

On Tuesday, October 8, 2015 the Lycée Alexandre Pétion become functional once again. This old Haitian Institution that was built in 1818 by Alexandre petion was almost destroyed during the 2010 earthquake. This Thursday however marked a new chapter as a new and modern building was inaugurated. Please see the picture gallery below.

Many important Haitian personalities and authorities were present at the ceremony of inauguration in Bel-Air. Among those who went on stage to talk about the contribution of Lycée Alexandre Pétion to the Haitian society, were: President Michel Martelly, Prime Minister Evans paul, Director Nicolas Mathurin, Education Minister Nesmy Manigat, former President Boniface Alexandre, Ady Jean Gardy and Mr. Yves Germain.

Opening of the first training session for 40 directors of high school in Haiti

High School Directors get New Training and Computers. Minister of Education, Nesmy Manigat, officiated at the beginning of the new program to train 40 high school Directors in modern techniques of high school administration in West Department in Jacmel. Eventually the program will train 203 high school principals across Haiti.

The government has set reforming secondary education high on its agenda and issued a decree to this effect, the training program being an integral part of its master plan. To raise the performance level of students so they will perform better on their year-end exams is the goal.
