Venezuela and its link to Jacmel

The original design of the flag was first flown on March 12, 1806 in the bay of Jacmel, Haiti. This was the place where Francisco de Miranda actually created the first Venezuelan flag near Jacmel. He was in charge of flying what would later become the first flag of Venezuela.
Historic data revealed that as the expedition of Miranda prepared to make the final leg of its voyage to Venezuela.
The flag was first flown over Venezuelan soil at La Vela de Coro, on August 3. Until August 3, 2006, Flag Day was celebrated in Venezuela on March 12. Since 2006 it has been celebrated on August 3.

The ship landed in Haiti with French, English, Polish and U.S. crew members. on March 12, 1806 in the bay of Jacmel, Miranda made his famous oath before the yellow, blue and red flag which would become the Flag of Venezuela.
Here is the actual oath pronounced by Francisco de Miranda in the bay of Jacmel, on March 12, 1806: "I swear to be faithful to the free people of South America, free of Spain, and serve them honestly and loyally against its enemies and opponents, and observe as well as obey the orders of the supreme government of this legally-constituted government and orders of superior general and officials."
This flag created in Jacmel did not actually fly in Venezuela until August, 1806, after Miranda had defeated completely the enemy of the new nation
