Marie Carmelle Jean Marie, New Business Advisor Economic and Financial of the Presidency

After several discussions with President Joseph Michel Martelly and her wife Sophia Saint-Remy Martelly agreed to take up the post of Advisor to Financial and Economic affairs of Presidency. According to some well-informed sources, both President Martelly and First Lady Sophia had deep appreciations for the former Finance Minister Marie Carmelle Jean Marie, who is popular by the moniker Iron Lady.

Jean Marie resigned for her post of Finance Minister in April 21, 2013. To this, President Michel Martelly expressed his deep regrets. Jean Marie resigned from her post because of the lack of solidarity from her peers, which was affecting the work and her commitment to transparency to the Haitians.

Marie Carmelle Jean Marie was recognized by international community for the excellent work as the Finance Minister of Haiti. She held her office for a period of 1 year during which she managed to infuse confidence among her Haiti's international partners through her transparent and rigorous management of Haitian public resources. The acceptance of the post of Advisor for the Presidency by Jean Marie has weakened Lamothe and the general opinion that is surfacing now is that not Martelly but it was Lamothe who was the primary cause of her resignation.
