Should there be a State National Funeral for Jean Claude Duvalier?

One of the attorney for the former Haitian Dictator, Me Reynold Georges, stated that the National funeral for Jean Claude Duvalier are in the planning stage at this time. However, the government of Martelly-Lamothe has not made public their decision at this time.

National funeral, just like it was done recently for former President Leslie Manigat, is natural. However, Former President Jean Claude Duvalier is in a case by itself. He has many enemies who would tell you he should have have a National funeral.

Jean-Claude Duvalier Hospitalized following court hearing

The leading attorney for Former Dictator Jean Claude Duvalier, Mr Reynold Georges, told the Press Monday (3-4.2013) that his client was hospitalized for an unspecified illness. This is just after the former Haitian Dictator testified last week in court. Lawyer Reynold Georges put the blame for his current illness to his last court appearance stating that Duvalier was not feeling well before the Thursday court hearing and his doctor had advised him not to testify.

As he was defending his government during his last court hearing, the 61-year-old Jean Claude Duvalier Duvalier looked ill and appeared to have lost weight. He periodically wiped his forehead with a white cloth. If confirmed, this hospitalization would be the second time Duvalier has sought medical treatment in the past two years. Two months after his 2011 return, he was hospitalized due to unspecified chest pains. Some said he has cervical osteoarthritis which a degeneration of the spinal column in the neck area.

Jean Claude Duvalier finally has his day in Court

This is one for Haiti history book, former Haitian dictator Jean-Claude Duvalier appeared in a Haitian court for the first time Thursday (February 28, 2013) to answer charges of human rights abuses during his brutal lasting over 15 years (1971-1986).

Te courtroom holding that historic event in Port-au-Prince was packed. One could remark the presence of several journalists, activists, supporters of the Duvalier regimes, as well as representatives from several embassies.

This was also the first time the victims were facing Jean Claude Duvalier, the one they directly accused of being the perpetrator of all these crimes. Alix Fils-Aime and Robert Duval, two of the most vocal victims of Duvalier Crimes were present at the court hearing. It was the first time for them to see Jean Claude Duvalier answer direct questions about the widespread abuses associated with his dictatorial government.

Jean-Claude Duvalier defied judge order in return was summoned to appear in Court

The former Haitian dictator Jean-Claude "Baby Doc" Duvalier did not play his cards well with the head of the court of appeals, magistrate Jean Joseph Lebrun. He defied the judge order to appear in court on Thursday to face charges of corruption and human-rights violations during his 15-year rule and did not show up, sending his attorney instead, Reynold Georges. However, the judge who was not happy about that on Thursday summoned Jean-Claude Duvalier to appear in court.

Jean-Claude Duvalier was scheduled to attend a hearing to determine whether he should again face charges for human rights abuses committed during the 15 years of his regime.

Marie Danielle Bernadin dropped Rape complaint against Josue Pierre-Louis

Danielle Marie Bernadin who accused of the President of Electoral Council, Josué Pierre-Louis, of raping her renounces her alleged pursuit of the aggressor.

In a document signed on 27 January 2013, in the presence of two lawyers Josué Pierre-Louis, Me Reynold Georges and Fritzto Canton, declares to waive it "freely and without any constraint" to every action and pursuit initiated against her alleged attacker.

Jean-Claude Duvalier Diplomatic Passport Renewed By Haitian Officials

Officials in Haiti have now renewed Jean-Claude Duvalier, former dictator's diplomatic passport. This was stated on Saturday, by Reynold Georges, his attorney.

Customary Practice Of Issuing Diplomatic Passports
He stated that Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country has issued Duvalier's travel document again, after its expiry last month. This has been a customary process for both former Prime Minister's and Ex-Presidents.

Reynold Georges, the attorney stated on phone that, the diplomatic passport had to be reissued, since he has been the Ex-President, which is a practice followed commonly and this is something that should not be discussed by the citizens. After completing 25 years in exile, in 2011, Duvalier returned to Haiti suddenly.

Electoral Council President Josue Pierre-Louis Accused of Rape

Josue Pierre-Louis, President of the Electoral Council is being accused of rape and assault of Danielle Bernadin, a government secretary and graduate of State University of Haiti aged 27 years, at Port-au-Prince in Haiti. She works at the Ministry of the Interior at a position Josue Pierre-Louis had arranged.

Reason for Assault and Rape
He made a demand to see her phone that may have had sensitive information of the government or his nude pictures. Danielle Bernadin did not get anyone's help at Pierre's home that night. No one came to help her, even after screaming for help or security. She walked out with shoes and clothes in her arms and then a man riding a motorcycle took her home.

Allegation of Rape by Josue Pierre-Louis, CEP President on Danielle Bernadin

Aside from being contested, the Permanent Electoral Council (CEP) is facing another challenge as its chief, Josue Pierre-Louis, is now being accused of rape. According to reports, Danielle Bernadin, a secretary at the Ministry of the Interior, claimed that Pierre-Louis raped her in his private estate in Tabarre on November 26.

Danielle Bernadin, also called as "Danny" in the office, said that the CEP chief had always picked her up and dropped her off after work. On the date of the alleged crime, however, Pierre-Louis reportedly took a detour, asking Bernadin to help him download applications for his new iPhone. At the estate, Bernadin was reportedly downloading applications when Pierre-Louis suddenly came in the room, carrying two assault rifles. The chief allegedly demanded for Bernadin to show him her mobile phone, which he believed to have been carrying sensitive government information. The victim claimed that Bernadin beat her up and then raped her. She added that she tried screaming for help but no one came.

Jean-Claude Duvalier has been taken to Canape Vert Hospital in Haiti

Former Haitian President Jean-Claude Duvalier is currently receiving treatment in Canape Vert Hospital in the Haitian capital, Port-au-Prince. Duvalier had a terrible stomach ache, accompagned with pain in the thorax.

According to Reuters news, the former Haitian president is being treated in a private Hospital after falling ill. His attorney, Reynold George said that Duvalier will stay in the Hospital to get some rest.

To complicate his situation, on wednesday, Haitian Justice issued a House Arrest order, preventing Baby Doc Jean-Claude Duvalier from leaving his residence.
