During the third and fourth quarters, Haiti's Les Grenadiers managed to keep Italy from scoring any more points. It was expected that at best Les Grenadiers would lose by a small point-lead to Italy's Azzurris.

Les Grenadiers' luck started to change when Jean-Eudes Maurice, a French-Haitian national, gained a penalty against the Azzurris. Ten tense minutes remained in the game. Les Grenadier's, Olrish Saurel, prepared the final play, with which Les Grenadier's forward Jean-Philippe Peguero made the final score for a 2-2 tie game. With the tie game and a tight 2-1 loss against current world champions, Spain, Haiti is sure to increase its standing in FIFA's rankings.

Haiti has competed just once for the World Cup in 1974 in West Germany. If Les Grenadiers continues to build momentum playing the toughest competitors, the 2014 season could be the year Haiti competes in the World Cup again. If won, it would be the sweetest victory, indeed, after 40 years of being shut out of the summit World Cup.
