The Grenadiers soccer game in South Korea for the first in friendly match

September 6th, 2013 saw a first in football history as the Grenadiers took on South Korea, a new frontier for the world's favorite sport. Played in Seoul, the match saw coach Antonio Israel Blake Cantero replaced by interim coach Pierre Roland Saint-Jean. Saint-Jean will coach until a newly appointed coach is selected by the FHF (Haitian Football Federation).

Recently placing 74th on the most current ranking from FIFA, the Haitian team looked to best their rivals, coming in at 56 on the same list, in a friendly match to honor their first meet on the green of the Incheon Football Stadium. The game was made possible by the pulling out of the team from Iran, which dropped their scheduled game with South Korea early in the month of August.

Haiti Stuns Italy World Cup Champions with a Tie Game in Soccer

Sixty-third ranked Haiti's Les Grenadiers managed a tie-score game against soccer-world champions, Italy, at an exhibition game in Rio de Janeiro. The final score was 2-2. Italy took an early lead, scoring the first goal 19 seconds after the game had started. Made by mid-fielder, Emanuele Giaccherini, it set a record for the quickest goal in Italian soccer records. Italy's second goal was scored by Claudio Marchisio 18 minutes before half-time.

During the third and fourth quarters, Haiti's Les Grenadiers managed to keep Italy from scoring any more points. It was expected that at best Les Grenadiers would lose by a small point-lead to Italy's Azzurris.

The Famous "Grenadiers a l'assaut" Statement

Haitian historians reported that on November 18th, 1803, the last battle of the Expedition Santo Domingo with the slaves of the colony took place in Vertières near Cap-Francais known today as cap-Haitian or Cap-Haitien.

The troop commanded by General Rochambeau for the French Colonizer went head to head with the troop of General Jean-Jacques Dessalines, leader of the slave rebellion.

U17 World Cup Qualifiers Underway In Haiti, Grenadiers Alaso

Haiti hosts the U-17 FIFA Men's World Cup at the Sylvio Cator Stadium. The 7-day first phase tournament, which was scheduled to kick off last July 3, gathers several teams, including the young Grenadiers and squads from the Dominican Republic and St. Lucia. The qualifying tournament is where the teams would battle for a spot at the 2013 U-17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates. The prestigious FIFA competition will be held from October 17 to November 18, 2013.

Haiti is being bannered by talented Grenadiers aged under 17. They are led by coach Maximus Augustus, who played a key role in coming up with the national selection. Augustus receives coaching and training assistance from Chery Pierre and Rosemond Pierre. The U-17 Haiti team square off with squads from St. Lucia, the Dominican Republic and Curacao.

Haiti - U17 Football team Grenadiers beat Saint Lucia

One of the most memorable days for the under 17 years team of the Haitian national team is definitely when they beat the famous giants of Saint Lucia. This was a one time occurrence but the most famous and memorable to all football fans and players in Haiti. They were able to easily make a 3-0 win over the famous football giants a fact which did go down history as one of the few reasons why everyone should believe totally in the ability of the team to become one of the best teams in the near future. It acted as a means to prove that in the near future the team which is to replace the current national team will be a force to reckon with and that it is one of the youngest and most energetic team to watch out for.
