Purchasing goods from the Dominican Republic

Anthony Jean-baptiste - December 13 2011, 3:06 AM

The Dominican Republic does not produce codfish or herrings (hareng)
Did you ever wonder why those goods are so expensive in Haiti and so cheap in the Dominican Republic?

Our local merchants can cross the borders, amid being insulted or abused by the Dominicans, to purchase them at the cheaper price and sell them home at the higher price for a profit.

Why do they cost so much in Haiti to begin with?

Is it the private fees at the wharff, too much profits or too much taxes?

Who is exploiting the haitian people?
