Aerial seeding to curb environmental degradation and reforestation in Haiti

According to studies of experts in reforestation from Haiti and Cuba, aerial seeding is the only method that will stop the degradation of the environment in the mountainous areas which are inaccessible.
It is expected that through this program around 133 million seeds of mahogany,cedar and benz olives will be scattered in the regions of watershed of Pelage and Chained des Mathieu. In addition, it is estimated that over 20% of these seeds will grow, which accounts to about 27,000 million trees.
It should be noted that this kind of project has been carried out in other countries such as in Jamaica and Cuba where they gave a satisfactory results. The Minister of the Environment said that this project of aerial seeding will continue to take place until the end of the presidential term in 2016.
To date, there has been a laying of the first terminal of the Natural Park Masaya. This is an addition of the boundary of parks which are being constructed under President Martelly administration as the Historical Park of Sans Souci or the National Park of the Visited.
