Black Immigration Network Kinship Assembly In Miami's Little Haiti

During the conference, participants will also delve into racial justice, in addition to calling on the black immigrant diaspora to seek unity if it is to advance economically. Black Immigration Network will be the main hosts but will be assisted by various other groups.

The conference will run for three days, starting from May 23 to May 25. It will run during the same month when commemoration of the Haitian Heritage Month will be ending. More than 150 community leaders will take part in the conference.

The conference aims to bridge the gap between African Americans and immigrants from Africa. The Center for American Progress reported that in 2013, more than 8% of all the US citizens born overseas were black immigrants.

Studies show that the biggest portion of immigrants in the US is from Jamaica and Haiti. The studies also indicate that many black immigrants to the US are from Guyana as well as Trinidad and Tobago.

Reports indicate that in 2009, more than 30 percent of all black immigrants in the US were beneficiaries of the US government's lottery program. Reports also show that more than 400,000 black immigrants in the US reside in the country illegally.

The Black Immigration Network discovered that blacks are five times likely to suffer deportation and arrest, more than any other group in the US. Black immigrants in the US form the biggest group of the unemployed, or those with lowest wages
