The short passage of Emmanuel Menard as head of the CEP will be marked by the person selected to replace him. Attorney Fritzto Canton, lawyer of former Dictator Jean-Claude Duvalier has the honor to assume this position. He was appointed by President Michel Martelly this week.

The Haitian Senate is feeling the heat to get on with Election

In politic, every day is like an eternity. It looks like if there is not an election in Haiti in 2014 the person who will be blamed is not President Michel Martelly.

So far, president Michel Martell has been playing his cards well with the international community by managing to lay the responsibities on the Legislative branch of Government, the Haitian Senate in particular.

U.S. Representative from Florida Ms. Ileana Ros-Lethtinen clearly is pointing the fingers at them. She declared thais week that "It is time that the Haitian Senate vote the electoral law in line with the spirit of the Agreement on El Rancho to set a date for elections".

Daly Valet went further to say that Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe Laurent Lamothe has been the most powerful Haitian Prime Minister since the adoption of the Constitution of 1987.

House of Representatives passed electoral law in Haiti

Haiti finally has a new election law. The news was delivered recently that, after the convening of members to a special session called by the Haitian President, Michelle Martelly, the law was passed on the 27th of November and it will make the road to elections within the Republic a smoother, more democratic one.

The terms of the new initiative are much like those in the one passed on October 2nd, and was passed following a second reading by a vast majority of the members of the Senate. The next step is for the written document, detailing the law and its particulars, to be sent for promulgation to the Executive. It will then be formally and officially published in the Le Moniteur journal. Following the date of the passing of the law, the President had 8 days within which he could raise any objections to it.

Will North Miami Mayor Lucie Tondreau be removed from office?

It is always good to ask questions and this particular questions is being discussed in many Haitian barber shops and parks where Haitians are gathered to play Dominos.

Just a quick history on the situation of North Miami Mayor Lucie Tondreau. Following her election as the new Mayor of North Miami this year, the election was contested by former mayor Kevin Burns, a former mayor himself but not of Haitian descent, on the ground that Lucie Tondreau did not meet residency requirement to run for office.

There is another level to the story. According to some of the supporters of Mayor Lucie Tondreau another former mayoral candidate, Dr. Smith Joseph, who happens to be Haitian-American, is also collaborating with the non Haitian-American Kevin Burns to remove Mayor Lucie Tondreau from office.

Will there be an election in Haiti in 2013? The International community has spoken

Now I believe there will be an election in Haiti by the end of 2013. I can bet you some money that at least the first round of election will be held before December 31, 2013.

One may ask why Am I so sure?

The answer my friend is that the International community has spoken. First, there were some doubts with US Ambassador Pamela Ann White at first taking the position that the election would likely be held in 2014, then quickly had to return to her decision. Next, the government of Michel Martelly, in a strategic move to buy time, put a hold on the electoral law. Even one of the advisors of Michel Martelly, Stanley Lucas, came out to tell the press that the election is not possible this year and will likely be taking place the earliest, March of 2014.
To all these people, you have eggs in your face
