In anticipation of the event, a pre-planning session was scheduled at the Karibe Convention Center in early April. A group of 50 international representatives met to assess what tasks remained to complete preparations. They reviewed areas of official procedure, timed press releases, media consultants, and security measures to ensure a well-run operation.
Details of behind-the-scenes preparations were reviewed, and a general Q and A between event planners and audience members occurred. Afterwards, Summit National Coordinator, Denis Watson, led representatives to preview accommodations that will welcome government officials and Heads of State. Word-of-mouth Haiti is sparing no expense to give attendees an unforgettable experience of Haitian hospitality will no doubt generate good will.
Haiti Foreign Minister Pierre-Richard Casmir congratulated those working to guarantee the Summit is a resounding success. He also emphasized government of Haiti (GOH) principals, Martelly and Lamothe, were offering all of GOH's resources for the Summit in a commitment to present Haiti as worthy of diplomatic inclusion. Raising Haiti's diplomatic profile, along with an economic boost to its economy, and recognition of the island's potential for growth in tourism, is the ultimate outcome wished for.
