In a move that seems shocking and unpredictable, President Barack Obama has nominated Ambassador Pamela Ann White, a career diplomat to replace the current U.S. Ambassador Kenneth H. Merten. To take effect, the nomination has to be approved by the U.S. Senate. This was announced on Monday, January 23, 2012.

"The Real power player"

The New ambassador-at-large for Haiti, Sean Penn honored for work in Haiti

The Haitian Government has selected from the crowd someone who has been very dedicated to the cause of Haiti since the 2010 earthquake and made him ambassador-at-large for Haiti. It is no other than the movie actor Sean Penn.

A well deserved title.

However, does someone like Sean Penn have the character to be an ambassador-at-large?

I have never been an ambassador, but I know that to occupy that position, it requires certain "finess". I also know that someone like Sean Penn does not have any of that. The descriptions that match the movie actor include: raw, tough, profane, fearless, explosive and hard working. There is nothing diplomatic, however with Sean Penn

A $250 million claim to MINUSTAH on behalf of Haitian cholera victims

Forgiveness does not cure illness. At least this is what a group of Haitians believes when it comes to holding UN Peacekeeping force MINUSTAH accountable. The Institute for Justice and Democracy in Haiti (IJDH) submitted so far a total of 5,000 claims to the to U.N. for damages totaling at least $250m on behalf of Haitian cholera victims.

Hey MINUSTAH, Padon Pa geri maleng tande!

This organization believes that if it can happen in other countries, why not in Haiti

This is serious business. If the Boston-based advocacy group, Institute for Justice and Democracy in Haiti (IJDH), ever collect this money that would help these Haitian families and their communities quite a lot. I am looking at more investmentment in prevention, and overall quality of the healthcare in those remote areas of Haiti.

Haitan President Michel Martelly conducting first official visit to Cuba

It seems to me this was long anticipated. considering Cuba's contribution to the fight on Cholera in Haiti. Michel Martelly and his team finally decided to pay a visit to the neighboring country of Cuba. This clearly shows a different policy from that of Rene Preval. It appears to me that Rene Preval had a closer relation with Fidel and Raul Castro of Cuba that our current president Michel Martelly.

Why would Martelly take on a different politic Vis a vis of Cuba?

Anyway, this first official visit to Cuba will allow Martelly to get acquainted with the regime. Who knows, this might be the beginning of a beautiful relationship between Martelly and Castro.

Illegal Immigrant Labor Exploitation

U.S. business people are major contributors to the illegal immigration labor problem that has beset America for years, especially the last four.

American workers watch as good-paying employment continues to be outsourced, and illegals pass border patrols to enter and obtain subsistent-paying jobs. Nationally, unemployment figures are still well above normal levels. The occupy movements that have proliferated across the country are testament that the 99% are crying out for justice.

Congress has not addressed either job outsourcing or illegals' hiring issues that worsen the immigration labor problem. Dave Gibson, a former state-government administrator, observes self-serving politicians have colluded with dishonest businesspeople to exacerbate the immigration labor issue. They are accepting inappropriate monies businesspeople have pocketed through saving enormous amounts of money on payroll expenses employing illegals.
