Publishing in French and out of Port-au-Prince, it owns and operates its publishing house, Le Nouveau Matin S.A. Besides general business news, Le Matin delivers editorial content pertinent to business markets in Haiti.
Its readership includes captains of industry, business barons, government business interests, and business associations. Those who claim the lion's share of purchasing leverage, hold at least one advanced degree, usually in business or in a business-related field.
Le Matin is the most conservative news publication in Haiti. Its agenda is to report on special-interest lobbying efforts in Parliament, investment strategies, corporate policy changes, government contracts bidding, and other business information helpful and advantageous to its wealthy demographic base.
Virtually no threat exists Le Matin could go out of business. Even after the 2010 earthquake ravaged Haiti, its elite although momentarily shaken by the devastation wrought on the country made adjustments to their investment portfolios. Because Haiti does not yet have a stock market, the elite have a portion of their funds invested in foreign stock markets. In other words, they can continue subscribing and contributing advertising revenue to the paper, ensuring Le Matin's subscription and advertising sales remain steady.
