Faustin Soulouque, Haiti Monarchy

Faustin-Élie Soulouque was ushered into office as Haiti's 9th President in 1847. He was installed by advocates of the Boyerist movement as a figurehead ruler. But he soon rebelled, staging a coup against his supporters and turning his government into a dictatorship. Faustin ensured his totalitarian rule through devotion of a citizen militia, and finally persuaded Parliament to crown him Emperor of Haiti in 1849.

As emperor Faustin-Élie Soulouque ruled with a centralist government and created a black nobility with dukes, marquis, counts, barons, and nobles of lower rank. He formed military, civil, and religious orders, and created a Royal Academy of Art.

Patrick Gaspard likely pick as U.S. ambassador to South Africa

The Haitian-American Patrick Gaspard is the most likely pick as a US ambassador to South Africa. Patrick is currently the executive director to the Democratic National Committee.

Gaspard is known to be a famous player in the politics of New York City and has formerly worked as Obama's White House political director. In his political career he worked for David Dinkins' in his Mayor campaigns.

In other responsibilities Gaspard served in the Service Employees International Union. He in 1980's and 90's participated actively to topple the apartheid regime in South Africa. He also, while working in the White House, played a major role in efforts to give relief to Haiti after the major earthquake destruction in 2010.

Dumarsais Estime, Paul Magloire and Francois Duvalier shaped Haiti

Here is a picture of three major players in the history of haiti: Dumarsais Estime, Paul Magloire and Francois Duvalier

Dumarsais Estime came into power in haiti following a seven-month period of political wrangling. His administration was marked by confrontation with the American government.

The Noiriste government of Dumarsais Estime was noticed by many in the international community. Most Government jobs during his administration, specifically cabinet positions, were reserved for black professionals instead of members of the Mulato elite.

Focus was also on education where he built many provincial schools and expanded training for teachers

Aide to Haiti's first lady, fugitive Karl Jean-Jeune, wanted in South Florida

Listed as an absconder/fugitive after an arrest for robbing a bank he worked in as a teller in 2007, Karl Jean-Jeune, aide to Haiti's first lady Sophia Martelly, tweeted his whereabouts to his followers and consequently the Florida Department of Corrections.

In early 2008 Jean-Jeune was sentenced to six year's probation for stealing nearly $30,000 from the Lake Worth Bank, a sum he was also ordered to pay back. While the nature of his sentencing didn't prohibit him from travelling within the U.S. it was from a Caribbean summit held in Port-au-Prince, after a riveting musical performance he witnessed, where Jean-Jeune unwittingly disclosed his abscondment to the public and his location to the U.S. authorities.

Dr. Daniel Mathurin died following a traffic accident

On Sunday February 17, 2013 while navigating a corner on a road in the Dominican Republic, Dr. Daniel Mathurin suffered injuries from a car crash that would later claim his life. In the wake of this tragic loss of one of Haiti's most venerated scientists, his achievements in research and geophysics, including his speculations on the wealth of tangible and intangible resources to be found in Haiti, is cast back into the forefront of public awareness.

Extensive work he carried out with the wife he has succeeded, shows that Haiti is rich with hydrocarbons. Together, they had also discovered 20 oil sites in the country, five of which they described as being of great importance in the realms of oil speculation and politics. It is research that has led some to question whether or not the 2010 earthquake which all but leveled Haiti and left over 300,000 dead was not caused by clandestine drilling by foreign governments or entities.

Haitian Businessman Moise Garcon, Public Service Merits

Moise Garcon, a Haitian businessman, media coordinator, and activist in social- movement organizations, is about to be included in the latest edition of the high-profile and socially-prestigious WHO'S WHO publication. Moise Garcon has completed his studies in journalism, media communications, and marketing analysis. He is currently working on his dissertation and preparing for his orals as a pre-doctorate applicant in leadership skills within corporate culture.

Moise Garcon's accomplishments in political, social, cultural, and civic organizations are impressive. He is a member of no less than nine social-advancement groups, among them Black Alliance, NAACP, UNESCO Center for Peace, and SEQUOIA. He markets an upbeat image of his country as a founding member and Director of the Haitian Diaspora organization, Ayiti Demain. His work ethic and dynamism in this group has resulted in Ayiti Demain being invited for the first time to the Socio-Economic Summit of Haitians 2012, in Atlanta, Georgia.

Marie Danielle Bernadin dropped Rape complaint against Josue Pierre-Louis

Was the pressure too much? Did she get a pay off? Was the allegation of rape a fabrication in the mind of Danielle Marie Bernadin? We will never know.

Danielle Marie Bernadin who accused of the President of Electoral Council, Josué Pierre-Louis, of raping her renounces her alleged pursuit of the aggressor.

In a document signed on 27 January 2013, in the presence of two lawyers Josué Pierre-Louis, Me Reynold Georges and Fritzto Canton, declares to waive it "freely and without any constraint" to every action and pursuit initiated against her alleged attacker.

University Of San Francisco (USF) Awards Honorary Doctorate to Me Mario Joseph

Honorary Doctorate in humane letters was presented to the Managing Attorney, Me Mario Joseph of (IJDH) Institute for Justice & Democracy Bureau des Avocats Internationaux (BAI) in Haiti. Stephen A Privett, S.J. USF President declared that Mario Joseph was extremely devoted to his career.

A Legal Voice for the Oppressed

He stood up for victims of injustice as a human rights attorney. He has provided legal voice to all those who had been silenced by the oppression by his personal and deep commitment.

The entire community of USF and graduates are sure to gain inspiration from this, he declared during the graduation ceremony where he conferred the honorary degree on him. He addressed this to more than just the graduate and undergraduate USF College of Arts and Science students at the graduation ceremony.

Government of Haiti Supports Alleged Rapist Josue Pierre Louis

Outraged attorneys, representing the victim of a rape perpetrated by a government of Haiti (GOH) official, condemned the GOH for its public support of alleged rapist Josue Pierre Louis. Louis is President of the Permanent Electoral Council, being disputed as a valid ruling body.

During a hearing, attended by the victim and judge adjudicating the case, Jean Renel Sanon, Minister of Justice (MOJ), showed up unexpectedly. Andre Michel, human rights attorney, claimed the random appearance of Sanon was an intimidation tactic, calculated to make Marie Danielle Bernadin drop her case against Louis. She accuses him of battering and raping her. Sanon has a history of questionable behavior in his position as MOJ, and he was not required to attend the pre-trial hearing. Court observers were bewildered as to why the MOJ had shown up.
