Personal Responsibility

According to the Holy Bible, each will have to bear his own load(Galatians 6:5). This one of the many phrases to ponder found in literature on personal responsibility.
What does responsibility really mean when deal with taking action, instead of just reading, writing, or talking about it?

Personal responsibility, as the mentioned Bible verse puts it, is the decisions and actions one takes and taking responsibility on whatever these decisions and actions will result to. It is an important human ability that helps individuals deal with any kind of circumstance or situation properly and accordingly. Not only does personal responsibility affect a single person, but also the people around him or her.

The opposing Forces of Hope, Desperation

Desperation is a condition that occurs when hope dies.

When a great need has gone unmet, catastrophe looms, or destruction appears inevitable, then desperation arises.

Desperation may force us to use whatever sound or unsound options are available to end the pain of despair. If options prove ineffective, desperation becomes prolonged and thinking contracted. The feeling that no real solution exists makes one hope in vain, a forlorn hope.

Desperation causes unrealistic thinking and a move away from, rather than towards hope. Without consideration of realistic options because they involve risk, discomfort, or fear of the unknown, one lives in a more or less perpetual state of hopelessness.

Accepting Personal Responsibility

Taking responsibility for one's own life and the decisions and actions that shape it is easy to say, but very, very difficult to do.

It takes commitment, practice, and acceptance in the long run for a better, happier, and more productive existence to accept responsibility.

So what is accepting personal responsibility? First, it is being independently responsible for the decisions and actions one takes instead of blaming them on others. "This is your fault" is an expression individuals often say to people around them when everything turns out wrong, instead of blaming it on one's self. In the end, personal choices are what shape the direction and outcome of one's life.

What Is Gut Feeling?

Ever had an intuition? Some people call that gut feeling

Have you ever sensed something you believe is true even without proving it? If yes, then what you had was gut feeling.

A gut feeling is an instinctive emotional reaction towards a certain person, object, or situation. A person who has a gut feeling over something couldn't point out the reason why he feels that way. He just does. Gut feelings are thoughts coming from the brain's insular cortex and are not generated by consciousness. They are described as reflections of intuition.

Steps In Following Your Gut Feeling

There comes a time when you know and feel something is right but couldn't quite explain it. Isn't it Gut Feeling?

Those moments are your intuitive moments, when you just know what to do without rationalizing or overanalyzing things. That intuition or instinct is also called gut feelings. It's termed that way because people often feel something in their stomach when they feel that something is wrong or that they have to take a different action from what everyone is expecting. It is best to follow what your gut is telling you to do because it is right most of the time.

The Reinforcing Behaviors of Hope and Optimism

Hope and optimism are two sides of the same coin. Hope fuels optimism, but the reverse is not always true.

Hope arises when one sees a way out of a perceived hopeless circumstance. It allows one to escape the feelings of powerlessness and the sense of being trapped. But before hope can happen, one must accept the situation.

To resist the fact of one's current predicament only reinforces the sense of hopelessness and despair. But acceptance can also be an obstacle to hope, if in accepting the hopeless situation, one gives into despair and thoughts of suicide.

From Hope to Faith within Christianity

Two ideas of hope exist: secular and religious

Secular hope, asserts whatever we desire we can achieve through faith in ourselves; the second that our desires will be achieved through our faith in God.

Religious hope issues from the promises given by God to His followers in the Bible, and to all believers in God's promises for us.

Secular hope and biblical hope begin with a yearning within us for something good and pleasurable. In secular hope, desires can be achieved through a belief system (are we worthy of this good); directed thinking (a plan put into action); and opening up to opportunities and possibilities (how we will achieve the desire).
