Michaelle Jean to head the Limonade University Commission

President Martelly has now appointed Michaëlle Jean, a former Canadian governor and UNESCO's special envoy Haiti, to spearhead the commission that will kick start the dream and more importantly ensure that Limonade University is up and running in a year's time. He admitted that Haitians have been unable to do it on their own. The president hoped that by appointing the envoy, Michaëlle Jean, he would be able to bring other likeminded individuals and partners for the betterment of the management of Haiti.

Two years after the earthquake that caused havoc in Haiti, the residents of Limonade are still lifeless. Not that the town was badly hit by the natural catastrophe, but because they have given up on the rolling out of a University in their hometown. For a whole two years they have patiently waited upon the Dominican Republic to aid in putting up the University which has the potential to transform the lives of the locals by creating employment opportunities and offering a superb chance to fight off the benightedness that is so rampant in this part of Haiti.

What is Moral Responsibility

The building blocks of a society are norms, laws, and most importantly a shared moral standard.

Every citizen is given a certain set of morals to follow as a matter of his or her obligation to one's self, to others, and the society he or she belongs to. Once these morals have been broken, an individual or a group will have to face the consequences dictated by society for their decisions and actions. Thus, one has to have moral responsibility.

Morality is equivalent to human existence and identity. Human beings are born and raised in the world with pre-existing cultural and societal rules that their parents, teachers, and society teach them as they get to the point of maturity when they could be responsible for themselves. Moral responsibility is thus properly exercised independently, when one could fend for himself or herself. The high or low form of it may involve several external factors such as upbringing, economic status, education, etc., but in the end, it is a matter of one's personal decisions on whether to do what he or she perceives as right or wrong based on moral standards.

Port-au-Prince Chief Prosecutor Senatus Refuses to Prosecute Sophia Martelly and Olivier Martelly

Haitian human rights attorney Louis Newton St. Juste attended a hearing presided over by Port-au-Prince's Chief Prosecutor, Jean Renel Senatus, regarding mis-handling of state monies by First Lady Sophia Martelly and son Olivier. He and his colleague André Michel have spoken with U.S. authorities about the Martellys and corruption within the president's administration at large.

In a press release issued by the Government Commissioner's office after the hearing, Senatus declined to bring charges against the Martellys. He referred to the Code of Criminal Procedure Article 21 that, according to Senatus, forbids prosecution of both Martellys. He called St. Juste's tactics illegal because he has not filed the correct paperwork that would begin an action against the First Lady and her son.

On Relationship, Trust Your Gut Feeling

Love can make people do crazy things. It can prevent a person from thinking clearly and seeing what really is going on.

A person who is in love may look only at the good side of things while ignoring the bad ones because he/she is afraid of losing the other person. This is why many people get hurt and abused in a relationship.

Given this, the best relationship advice you can probably receive is to follow your gut feelings. These feelings are your intuition that you couldn't quiet down. The gut feel is the one telling you that your partner is cheating on you even if he/she seems to be happy with you. It is the one whispering to a girl to walk away from a date because the guy is not good for her. It is the one urging a guy to go after a girl because she might be the ONE. No one exactly knows why they have these feelings and thoughts. They just do. And in most cases, the best thing to do is to follow what your gut is telling you because it is almost always right.

Another scientist added that the unconscious brain, which produces the gut feelings, is wise because it always picks the best decision.

Personal Responsibility: Why it Matters

Life is what you make of it. It is the collection of the decisions and actions one makes and you take responsibility for.

A life well lived is thus a matter of having personal responsibility. It is not merely a matter of free will; it is an obligation not only to one's self, but also that of others who could be affected with one's choices and acts.

So why does it matter? Well, without personal responsibility, there is no room to grow, no room to succeed. People tend to make excuses when something goes wrong or does not go as expected, which is wrong. It is easy to point fingers, yes, but it never solves anything. Not taking the blame for one's own doing leaves one stuck in the bad situation. In order to move forward and improve, people should always be responsible for the consequences of their decisions and actions and learn from them in order to prevent these undesired outcomes from ever happening again. It also saves precious time.
