Shakira visits Haiti to build school for children

Beside this current plan to open a school in Haiti, Shakira is already involved with several international actors to raise funds for the victims of the Haiti earthquake.

Shakira is internationally known for advocating for children worldwide. She has a large foundation back in his country of origin, Colombia that feed 6,000 children. Shakira's foundation will be responsible for the financing of the school in Haiti.

Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll was born in Barranquilla, Colombia on February 2, 1977. She is a singer, songwriter, musician, record producer, dance and philanthropist. She has won two Grammy Awards, seven Latin Grammy Awards and twelve Billboard Latin Music Awards. Shakira is also a high selling Colombian artist and the second most successful female Latin singer.
