Haiti Preps For First-Ever Mountain Bike Race

Are you into mountain bike racing? Do you love nature? Do you want to conquer undiscovered places in Haiti? If yes, then don't let yourself get left behind. It's time for you to register at the upcoming Mountain Bike Haiti Stage Race. The first-ever pro race will kick off on January 30 next year.

The race track runs through the Haiti National Park, some parts of which are still unchartered territory. During the five-day event, competitors are set to participate in ecosystem building projects. Then, they will race through a total of 85 miles, biking along the Chaine de la Selle mountain range; starting from Port au Prince to Jacmel. The participants are expected to traverse extreme terrains and rocky roads. The event will close with a Carnaval celebration, wherein participants will get to party with the locals in Jacmel community.

Obed Cetoute, Canadian Football player

Obed Cetoute was born on January 7, 1983 in Montreal, Canada, as the son to a Haitian woman who had migrated to Canada to escape the poverty that is so rampant in the Caribbean country. At the tender age of 14 he expressed his desire to play well organized professional football. His mother was reluctant to let him go, as she wanted his son to follow the path to academic excellence. It took the intervention of Obed's uncle, who took it upon himself to convince her that football is a noble profession.

Olden Polynice, Haitian athlet

Born in November 21, 1964, Olden Polynice is remembered as having been the most evident Haitian athlete in the U.S history. Playing as a centre in professional basketball, Olden Polynice played for the NBA for 15 seasons. He has starred for several National Basketball Association teams; Seattle SuperSonics, Los Angeles Clippers, Detroit Pistons, Sacramento Kings, and Utah Jazz.

Olden Polynice was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti and did his high school education in All Hallows High School in the Bronx. His passionate for the basketball game saw him participate in college basketball at the University of Virginia.

After college, Polynice played for Hamby Riminini of Serie A in 1986-87. In 1987 Chicago bulls selected him for the team as the 8th overall in the years' NBA draft. He was later traded with Scottie Pippen to the Seattle SuperSonics.

Park Michelet Destinoble Inauguration, Verrettes Artibonite

The President of the Republic of Haiti S.E.M. Michel Joseph Martelly along with his wife, the First Lady, Madame Sophia Martelly went to a small town, Verrettes (Artibonite), to inaugurate Park Michelet Destinoble on Tuesday May 22.

Olive Martelly, the Advisor to the President Martelly in sports, led the initiative of the structure "Foutbòl power Chanjman" which means 'Football for Change'. The Haitian President stressed on the modernization of the Michelet Destinoble park in Verrettes Artibonite and rehabilitation of the integrated program during the inauguration program.

Mr. President also assured that efforts are underway to make opportunity to engage more youth in sports. He expressed his interest and desire for adequate play areas with all kind of possible facilities. Any impediments that hinder youth development will be solved cordially, he added.

Phoenix Professional Soccer Stadium To Be Built In Cite Soleil, Haiti

From the earthquake massacre in January 2010, Haiti is constantly trying to rebuild of what was lost and bring some new hope for the Haiti people.

With donation camps and mining projects, Haiti government is trying to bring some economic benefit to the people. Also, a zeal and vigor of the people for playing soccer has proposed plans for the first professional soccer stadium in the country.

The name of this soccer stadium will be Phoenix stadium. It is said to be built in Cité Soleil, which has been designated as a red zone area by the United States as it is a poverty-stricken town in needs of economic development.

The government of Haiti is planning to build its very first professional national soccer stadium in the country. Phoenix professional soccer stadium is the name to be given to the new stadium which is to be a one of a kind stadium with the latest features any of the best stadiums would have. This comes at a time when the entire world is raving madly with the desire for a good soccer match where there are over a billion fans of the game.

It is also a time when the talent has recently been established to be in plenty in the country where there are many soccer players who have no choice to play the game in countries where they are able to get such unique facilities.

Louis Delmas, professional football player for the Detroit Lions

Louis Delmas is one of the Haitian born stars in the American football teams. He was born in America but his parents were from Haiti who had moved into the states in one of the many political imbalances that used to rock the country during the early years. He has been able to present a great show of abilities in the football games where he has had a great career ever since being drafted into the Detroit national football team.

In his young years Louis Delmas attended school at Miami Beach high school where he had joined the school team and where he began nurturing his career and talent. He was able to easily make the best of it until eventually he got so good at it he just had to be drafted into the 2009 NFL draft.

Mario Antoine Elie, American basketball Player

Mario Antoine Elie was born on 26th November 1963 in New York City. He had a brother named Clark. His sister is named Nancy. Mario is remembered as a legendary in American basketball. He has been a professional basketball player and a coach at different times in his life. He is currently the assistant coach for the New Jersey Nets.

Mario Antoine Elie has his name Mario adopted from the famous opera singer Mario Lanza. Elie was raised up in New York but he is of Haitian heritage. As soon as he graduated from college his father passed on. Elie lost his brother Clark too in a car accident in 2009. Clark was also a basketball player though not at a professional level.

Mario Elie, Former Houston Rockets guard

Mario Elie is one of the Haitian nationalities who have made it big in the US. He was born in Haiti but raised in the US since his parents had moved into the country as they tried to seek refuge during one of the political momentums in Haiti where there were constant attacks and demonstrations. He grew up to be a great basketball player where he made it a hobby which eventually turned out to be a career.

Elie has over the years been engaged to the game both as a player and as a coach hence has a lot of experience in the basketball game. He at first got drafted into the NBA in the season of 1990-91 playing three games for the Philadelphia 76ers, while on a 10-day contract. He then proceeded to some other clubs and teams where he got to be largely and widely known for his abilities where he showed off what he can do and what his real talent is in the field.

Lecsinel Jean-Francois, Football Player

Lecsinel Jean-François, born on 2nd October 1986, plays international football for Sheffield United. He plays as a defender for the England based club. Jean-François's parents are Haitian origin.

He was born in Cayenne, French Guiana and began his football career in France. He played for the youthful teams of Paris Saint-Germain and CS Sedan Ardennes. Lecsinel Jean-Francois also played with Falkirk in the Scottish Premier League but left the club at the end of the season to play for En Avant de Guingamp, a Ligue 2 French club.

He did trials for Arbedeen during a pre-season friendly against Brechin City in July 2008. However, he did not win a contract with the club.
