In Haiti, there are a lot of false ideas related to security in comparison to the rest of the Caribbean. It is felt that the rate of homicides is high which alarm everyone.

Fed up with this kind of information, the opposition makes claims regarding the instability of the government in ensuring safety to organizations related to human rights as well as citizens of Haiti. The recent warnings being updated by Canada and the United Statese, only create a further bad impression.

A lot of importance has been given to homicides so much so that everyone seems convinced of the same. In such a condition where security is not guaranteed, it is difficult to develop the tourism sector which prevents business development.

Poverty And Crime In Cite Soleil

Comfortable living space, safety, security and luxury are some of the things that are uncommon among people living in Cite Soleil, an extremely poor town in the Arrondissement of Port-au-Prince in Ouest Department. As a matter of fact, it is considered one of the poorest and most dangerous towns in Haiti.

Around 400,000 residents live in Cite Soleil without a decent access to electricity. The sewerage and canal systems in the town are in poor condition, while only a few businesses are open to serve the residents. There are some hospitals and only one school. While half of the houses in Cite Soleil were made of cement and metal roof, the other 50% were makeshift shelters built in materials that residents have scavenged.

Warning To Haitians Visiting The United States

A warning has been issued to citizens of Haiti against all non essential travel to the United States especially considering the current situation prevailing there. In Washington D.C. the highest number of hate crimes has been committed. To respond to emergencies or crimes, the local authorities have limited abilities in certain areas.

Reasons To Avoid Travel

Shootings on a mass scale, gun violence, depression at high rate, ADD or Attention Deficit Disorder and epidemic rates of people getting overweight, etc are on the rise in the US. Citizens of Haiti are urged to exercise caution while visiting US.

Lesly Martelly, Cousin of President Michel Martelly shot two times

The Insecurity in Haiti does not discriminate. A cousin of President Michel, Lesly Martelly, has become the latest victim of insecurity in Haiti as he was shot by a gunmen during an attempted robbery in Delmas 2, Port-au-Prince.

The shooting incident took place Tuesday, December 18, 2012

According to Radio Kiskeya, the bandits opened fire on Lesly Martelly to rob his car. Martelly was taken to the hospital immediately where he had to undergo surgery. The victim is not in dangeras reported by government officials.

Shooting in School in Connecticut, close to 20 people, at least 10 children among the dead

This did not take place in Haiti.

There has been a mass killing at an elementary school in Connecticut, in the US. The number is between 20 and 28 people were killed. This took place at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

This is terrible. So much for the right to own fire arms in the United States.

Just imagine for a moment. We are talking about children between the ages of 5 and 7.

What have they done?

Haitian Journalist Patrick Alexis Victim of Bandit attacks in Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic is becoming more dangerous for Haitian tourists. Patrick Alexis is the latest victim in this regard. Traveling to the Dominican Republic, the journalist Patrick Alexis was assaulted by several bandits on Wednesday, December 12, 2012.

It was reported that bandits attacked Patrick Alexis with stones and he received injuries in the face and other parts of his body. He received medical care in a local hospital in the Dominican republic and currently is reported to be fine.

Patrick Alexis has not been the only Haitian to become victim of cime in the Dominican republic recently. Beside those not reported to the press, Recently Paul Evans (K-Plim), Jean Tolbert Alexis, Minister Daniel Torment, as well as Minister of Haitians Living Abroad (MHAVE), Daniel Supplice, have been Victims of Bandit attacks in the Dominican Republic.

Justice for Rooldine Lindor, Haitian student assassinated in Dominican Republic

The verdict was pronounced on the killer of Haitian College student, Rooldine Lindor. Eddy Sterlin Mendoza was convicted to spend 30 years in Dominican prison for the assassination of Rooldine Lindor. The Police officer involved did not receive a sentense.

In addition, it was determined by the court that Student Rooldine Lindor was not raped by her bandit.

As you may remember, Rooldine Lindor was 20 year old, College Student who was murdered in an apartment in the Dominican Republic on July 12, 2011. The report indicated that she was looking for an apartment when her assailants murdered her.

$300,000 Offered to alleged victim to keep quiet on Josue Pierre-Louis Rape case

We have new information on the rape case of Josue Pierre-Louis.

New information coming from the father of the rape victim would suggest that the team working for Josue Pierre-Louis is willing to use cash and influence to keep the case from going any further.

It has been disclosed that the team defending former Justice Minister and actual President of the CEP, Losue Pierre-Louis, have been trying to buy the opposition. The father of the alleged rape victim said says that the Haitian government offered his daughter $300,000.00 and a job at a consul office outside of the country if she would drop her rape case against Josue Pierre-Louis.

Josue Pierre Louis said no Rape, Victim said oh yes, there was rape. Not only there was rape but her face was the receiver of many slaps by Josue Pierre-Louis.

Scandal in Michel Martelly Inner Circle as Josue Pierre Louis is accused of raping his secretary

The Chairman of the Board election, Me Joshua Pierre-Louis is hit with with a major accusation. He is accused of raping his secretary. Mr. Josué Pierre Louis is the current head of the Permanent Electoral Council (CEP)

According to Haiti Press Network, a complaint was filed in the Civil Court prosecutor of Port-au-Prince by one of the secretaries of Josué Pierre Louis who said that she was assaulted and raped by her supervisor.

It was also reported the the alleged rape victim is in the process of being evaluated medical after the abuse to confirm that the rape actually took place. Other important players are actually getting involved in the case such as the organizations defending the rights of women and especially RNDDH.
