Justice for Sister Dona after 42 Months in Prison

She was held in custody following a complaint filed by Alfred Chenet, the father of the child, accusing she had sold his child although she had consistently claimed her innocence. He acquitted Sister Dona on charges of kidnapping, child trafficking and criminal conspiracy in the criminal court of the Palace of Justice of Port-au-Prince although as per the Registry records of the Kenscoff Peace Court, dated July 18, 2011, the culprit, a former employee of the orphanage Djimmy Mémé, did confess his crime. It further states that no person in the orphanage was involved in the crime. Moreover, it was a noted fact that Sister Dona was not in Haiti during the time of the crime.

It was a learned fact to the Court that certain Péguy Blanc and his concubine Christine, a Canadian lady, wanted to adopt Raphaël Chenet. Djimmy Mémé picked up the child from the orphanage and handed the child to Péguy Blanc for a sum of $2,000. These facts were even confirmed by Djimmy's cell phone messages; still, they were never taken into account. However, Djimmy Mémé, responsible for the crime, despite his confessions and facts collected by the Kenscoff Peace court, was released by the Substitute Commissioner of the Government, Rodriguez for unknown reasons. Sister Dona has learned a good lesson for her 23 long years of dedication and commitment.
