Fire in the Historic Center, Jeremie

On Saturday, March 22, 2014, The city of Jeremie was in crisis as a major fire erupted in the Historic center.

Despite the attempt of the local Fire Department to control the fire, it did not stop the fire from spreading which consumed several homes in the area.

Coincidentally, the fire took place during a visit by the Martelly-Lamothe Government on the occasion of the program "Gouvènman Lakay ou"

Mayor of Quebec, Regis Labeaume, to support new fire station in Port-au-Prince

Régis Labeaume, Quebec City's mayor, declared on Friday, June 14, 2013, that Quebec will construct a new fire station at a cost of $2 million USD in Port-au-Prince. He announced that the project will be financed by a Quebec investor but did not reveal the details of the investment plan. The name of the investor was also not revealed as well. This announcement came 6 months after the Mayor Labeaume visited Haiti and was hosting a Haitian visit to Quebec. Michaëlle Jean, Haiti's UNESCO Special Envoy and Stephanie B. Villedrouin, Minister of Tourism for Haiti were on an official visit to Quebec with the intention to sell the tourism potentials of Haiti to investors.

Breaking News !!! - Major fire close to Marche du Port in Port-au-Prince

It has been report of a major fire that is currently burning near Port-au-Prince harbor. The damage so far has been considerable. According to several radio stations in the Haitian capital, several cars have already been consumed by the fire, including merchandises. The report also indicated that there are lost of lives due to the fire; however, they are unable to count the number of fatalities.

As usually, the report indicated that local fire Department was very late in responding to this fire. That also contributed to the gravity of the situation

Fire at the Market of Croix-des-Bouquets

Several families brought to the point of desperation due to a fire at the Market of Croix-des-Bouquets. In the night of November 15, 2011, a fire started in the marketplace and quickly spread, causing several damages to the products of the businesses located inside of the Marche. According to early report, close to two hundred people were affected.

The Deputy of Croix des Bouquets was closely involved in the operation to fight the fire. He helped mobilized aids from a variety of institutions to come and help the population of Croix-des-Bouquets.

Haitian mother sets her 6 year old child on fire to remove evil Spirit

A child's grandmother, Sylvenie Thessier who is 71, is likely to go to prison for watching her grand-daughter being set on fire and not taking any action.

According to a report from New York Daily news, back in June 2009, Marie Lauradin sprayed rum over her child and set her on fire during a voodoo ceremony in Queens Village, in an attempt to clear her from evil spirits. The mother was accused of setting her daughter Frantzcia Saintil on fire.

Now, the grand mother, Sylvenie Thessier will be charged as well for negligence as she was present at the time of the incident and did not do anything to protect the child.

The Haitian Iron market or Marche en Fer is back in business and we only have one man to thank for that. Irish Billionaire Denis O'Brien is not satisfied with only taking from the Haitian society with his successful Mobil Phone company in Haiti Digicel. He also believes in putting back some of that money to serve the people.

It is reported that billionaire Denis O'Brien donated $12 million of his own money to make the dream of rebuilding the Haitian iron market, marche en Fer, a reality. Many improvements have been made into the renovated Marche Hyppolite. it is equipped with solar panels and resistant to earthquake and hurricane

Demonstrators set UNITE Party headquarter on Fire

The Haiti Election results that put Mirlande Manigat and Jude Celestin in the lead to participate in the runoff election set protestation incidents all over Haiti. In Port-au-Prince, protesters set fire to the headquarter or the UNITE party, the political party of President Rene Preval and under which Jude Celestin is currently candidate.

It was reported that thousands of protesters rampaged divers neighborhoods in the capital. They set fire to the headquarter of the Unite party. We were able to see flames and smokes coming out of the facility before fire trucks arrived at the location and control the fire.

Haiti wakes-up on Fire, following the Haiti Election 2010

Following the results of the 2010, protesters showed their frustration by burning public and private institutions, setting tires on fire and installing barricades all over he country.

The Haitian Joudalist just learned that the city of Cayes was practically on fire last night. Some public buildings in the city were burned to the ground, including DGI, The seaport "Dwan o Kay", the Justice Palace and several schools. In addition, Radio Carlos Lebond was vandalized and "Boulevard 4 Chemin"is paralized.

Similar situations were also noted in the city of Cap-Haitian. There has been several acts of violence reported in Haiti following the results of the Haiti Election 2010. In several neighborhoods in Cap-Haitian, tires were burning in the streets.
