Garcelle Beauvais, Famous Haitian

Haitian born Garcelle Beauvais is a veritable diamond 'from' the rough, her rise in the business of show a true testament that dreams born on Haitian soil can come true. The 46 year old actress, singer and model got her start at 16 when she was signed to the Ford modeling agency. It was her first big break, and it came about after the divorce of parents Axel Jean Pierre and Marie-Claire provided a move that would change her life.

Her mother, a nurse, left the island with Garcelle and her six older siblings and relocated to Massachusetts. After leaving her lawyer father and country of birth behind Garcelle, then seven, experienced severe culture shock. She learned to adjust and picked up English by watching popular American kids shows, perhaps fueling her inspiration for future on-screen success.

Movie actor Sean Penn seems to be integrating himself pretty well into the Haitian community as there are some romance rumors coming out with Haitian born actress Garcelle Beauvais.

The "Haitian Joudalist" has learned that actor Sean Penn was spotted with Haitian actress Garcelle Beauvais having a cozy dinner at the Sunset Tower Hotel in Los Angeles. According to the report, they met to discuss relief efforts to Haiti.

What kind of relief are we referring to?

It seems to me that actor Sean Penn this time was interested in getting some relief for himself.

Haitian-American Noramie Festa Jasmin made History as Mayor of Spring Valley

This is a sign that the Haitian community is moving and if I may say "Up" in the US. The latest is having one of our own elected as mayor in a major town. On behalf of the Haitian diaspora in the United States and all over the world, I would like to congratulate Noramie Festa Jasmin as the new Mayor of Spring Valley.

She has become the first Haitian American and the first woman to be elected as Mayor of Spring valley in 2009.

Before becoming Mayor of Spring Valley in New York, Noramie Jasmin occupied the position of trustee as well as deputy Mayor.
