Adonis Stevenson, Jean Pascal, Dierry Jean and Birmane Stiverne

In the world of Canadian pro boxing, the four top contenders are Haitian-American. Most of the home boxing matches take place in Quebec, where the immigrant community flourishes. It has also developed the top four.

Currently Adonis Stevenson holds the WBC Light Heavyweight title, superseding Jean Pascal, another top Haitian fighter. Dierry Jean is vying for the IBF Light Welterweight and Birmane Stiverne is anticipating his battle against Chris Arreola for the WBC Heavyweight title.

Pascal, now in his 30s, has named the top four: Stevenson, Jean, Stiverne, and himself the Haitian All Stars. The All Stars don't possess a cultural style of fighting like fighters from other countries, but have developed an individual style. Stevenson is a belter and a knockout machine, whereas Pascal is showy and athletic. Jean is quick and forceful, while Stiverne is a heavy and aggressive puncher.

Jean spoke with the press about his preparation and strategy for his upcoming match with Lamont Peterson. He says his preparation skills are solid, but his strategy and game plan have undergone a transformation. Fighting in Peterson's hometown, Jean says he aims to ". . . dethrone Peterson and bring that title belt back home . . ." Knowing the fight fans will heckle him, he claims it will ". . . give me more rage and energy to perform . . ."

Camille Estephan, Jean's promoter, adds "There is nothing . . . Peterson can bring that we can't handle . . ."
