Will Opposition Harass John Kerry on His Visit?

The opposition that has been demanding Martelly resign from office is planning to hold more protests at the same time U.S. Secretary of State Kerry is intending to visit Haiti. Will Kerry suffer the same fate as U.S. Ambassador to Haiti White, who endured threats and insults as she left a FUSION meeting, forcing the government to issue an apology to the U.S. embassy?


Iodized Salt Factory Launch

Haiti's First Lady Sophia accompanied Dr. Guillaume to Delmas to launch an iodized salt factory. The plant will help add the nutrient iodine into Haitians' daily diets, which will help combat the detrimental effect the lack of it causes their health.

Canada Supports Economic Opportunities for Grand Anse

Ambassador of Canada to Haiti, St.-Onge, visited a garden project in Jeremie and spoke with the women, who nurtured it along. Another project in the Jeremie region supported by Canada is a new road that will run to Les Cayes. When finished it will allow commerce to flourish, increasing economic opportunities for Grand-Anse Department.

Haiti Delegates at Conference on Peacekeeping

Two Defense Ministry delegates are representing Haiti at the International Conference of Peacekeeping. The Defense Network of Latin America and Safety has organized the conference. Following it the Norwegian Agency for Development Secretary General will introduce a think tank to formulate new policies ". . . for a better involvement of the countries concerned."

International Day of Human Rights in Croix-des-Bouquets

Croix-des-Bouquets will celebrate International Day of Human Rights with a ceremony on its public square. Local luminaries anticipated to show up: Croix-des-Bouquets Municipal Council President Bazin; Citizens Protector Elie; and High Commissioner for Human Rights in Haiti Representative Calandruccio. Cultural entertainment will be provided.
