Miami City Commission Chairman Keon Hardemon took a leading role to resolve the prolonged issue through an acceptance vote. It is not only an acceptance and recognition of the contribution of the Haitian community in the city of Miami, it will help their battle against gentrification and prevent the encroachment of Haitian legacy. People from different parts of the world come here to visit the Little Haiti Cultural Complex and the Caribbean Marketplace, because the names represent a cultural heritage which the Haitian community through a sheer determination has maintained and has turned a depressed neighborhood into vibrant, culturally rich area.
