Jepht Bastien, Haitian film director

Jepht Bastien is a Haitian born and raised film maker who has won some of the greatest awards in the industry. He won the Claude Jutra Award for best feature film by a first-time film director at the 31st Genie Awards in 2011. He is thus a very prominent and well known person all over the country who has been able to achieve a great deal of achievements for a person of his caliber.

Jepht Bastien lives in the city of Montreal where he has resided for a long time now. He is however from Haiti where he established an interest in the film making industry and where he was able to raise his talent and grow it to what it is today. It was out of his nurturing of this talent that he has been able to easily make it this far and the reason why he is still able to do so well in this industry.

Jessica Lucas, Haitian actress

Jessica Lucas is a leading and successful actress who has seen a big change in her life by just acting and being a great one at that. She was born by a Haitian-Canadian father and a Pakistani mother in Melrose Place and Edgemont. She started acting at a very tender age of just 7 where she joined a Children's Theatre Arts where she received a professional acting role.

Jessica Lucas has ever since been able to feature ion many of the most favorite and well received films and series where she has established a very great career. Her first featuring in a film was in the Canadian teen drama television series Edgemont as Bekka Lawrence which feature in 2001. She had however featured in one episode of the series seven days where she acted as Rita.

Jimmy Jean-Louis, a Long Journey to Reach Success

Jimmy Jean-Louis, birthdate of August 8, 1968, is a Haitian-actor-model, who found fame as "The Haitian" in Heroes, an NBC series. He lived in Pétionville, near Port-au-Prince, from infancy, until at 12 he immigrated with his family to Paris, to begin a modeling career.

There Jimmy Jean-Louis studied at Academie International de Dance. By 1991 producers discovered him dancing at a French club and hired him for a Coca-Cola print advertisement, which was highly successful. This opportunity raised his modeling profile and enabled him to work with haute couture fashion designers, Gianfranco Ferré and Valentino.

He had come a long way, from his homeless days in Paris to dancing in videos with the likes of Mariah Carey, Seal, and George Michael. He continued dancing and acting in musical theater, and getting exposure in an erotic French TV program.

Sharon Pierre-Louis, Haitian American actress

Sharon Pierre-Louis is an American actor who has made it simply out of great and exceptional talent which she realized long enough to warrant excellence and success. She is born of Haitian parents who had immigrated to the states in the 1980s and had her born in the country making her a citizen by birth. She has 5 other siblings one of whom is a deaf brother.

Sharon Pierre-Louis is a great actor having been involved with various ABC series and programs and making it big on the shows she has done to the present day. She is one of the few people who have been able to make it simply out of great talent and love for what they do. She is recorded of saying that she was a great fan of acting while still in her young years such that she even began acting at the age of 8.

George Clooney organized Hope for Haiti Now Telethon

Considered to be the biggest event since Live Aids concert, George Clooney rallies most of the biggest names in the entertainment industry to produce Hope for Haiti Now Telethon. Specifically, hundred and forty of the biggest names in Music, movies, and politic joined host George Clooney for the Hope for Haiti Now Telethon.

On January 12, 2010, Haiti was hit by an earthquake magnitude 7.0. The epicentre was located in the city of Leogane, some 16 miles west of the Haiti capitgal Port-au-Prince. However, the earthquake caused damages in several Haitian cities, in particular, Port-au-Prince, and Leogane

The Hope for Haiti Now Telethon featured artists such as Madona, Rihana, String, Stevie Wonder, Bruce Springsteen, Bono, Coldplay and Sheryl. Also a list of celebrities such as former president Bill Clinton, Leonard DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Nicole Kidman and Samiel L. Jackson participated in addressing the audience.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt donate to Haiti earthquake relief

Angelina jolie is the Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nation High Commission for Refugees. Following the Haiti earthquake of 2010, she made a trip to the island in support of the victims.

Previously, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt both visited Haiti. With an invitation from the Haitian hip hop star Wyclef Jean, Angelina and Brad visited a school that received support from the Haitian artist through his charity organization Yele Haiti. Jolie and her partner Brad Pitt have so far this year donated $1 million to charity work, through their Jolie-Pitt Foundation.

Sean Penn Out of Dubai Film Festival to go to Haiti

It was reported that the Actor turned humanitarian Sean Penn excused himself from the Dubai Film Festival this week as he was scheduled to receive a lifetime achievement award to fly to Haiti because as he stated "the situation in the crisis-hit country has worsened".

Sean Penn's JP, Haitian Relief Organization, manages a large tent city on what used to be the Petion Ville Country Club. The Actor turned humanitarian.

Penn arrived in Haiti immediately following the 2010 earthquake of January 21 that killed close to 300,000 people. Founded with philanthropist Diana Jenkins, Sean Penn's JP, Haitian Relief Organization started to work drainage around Port-au-Prince. Shortly after that, Sean Penn's organization has become responsible for a tend city on the grounds of a former golf club in Petion Ville.
