Bichotte was able to attribute her win largely to the support of her community, but also to the campaign staff and team of volunteer workers that gave of their time and talent for the historic win. The hard work of the support team showed with the results from 100% of the precincts which reported that the 42nd State Assembly District Leader had received a whopping 47.4% of the votes, or 2,669. Her closest competitor, Tullock, receiving 29.7% or 1,592 votes.
In her corner, no doubt facilitating the win, had been Rhoda Jacobs, retiring Assemblywoman and the might of her 42nd Assembly District made up of Mid-wood, Flatbush and East Flatbush, among other neighborhoods in Brooklyn. The campaign also put together an alignment of community leaders including clergy, elected officials, non-profit organizations and unions. Bichotte brought the message that the community needed leadership that would put people's "best interests" at the forefront.
