Albert Chancy, Boulot Valcourt, David Métellus, André Dejean, Richard Duroseau Honored

Albert Chancy (1950?) is a man of many personalities. He is a guitarist, pianist, singer, songwriter, journalist, businessman, media owner and co-founder and first maestro of Tabou Combo Pétion-ville. His first music group was "Atomic". Thereafter, he formed the group "Incognitos" with his childhood friend Herman Nau which later (in 1968) became "Tabou Combo". Albert is accredited for style 'igniter' that characterized his group "Tabou Combo" by his technique, speed and compositions. He is also marked as the advent of mini-jazz in Haiti.
Boulot Valcourt was born in Cap-Haitien on February 12, 1946. He started singing and playing guitar when he was 16 years old. In 1964, he left for Canada to study electronics and aviation. During the early 1970's, he used to perform in two separate groups in New York: "Caribbean" and "Ibo Combo". In 1975, he came to Haiti and added a flavor of Jazz to the Haitian music by forming a band named "Horizon 75". He is a composer, singer, guitarist and keyboardist.
Richard Duroseau was a member, former accordionist of the most popular of Haitian music "Compas Direc" and former keyboardist and pianist of Skah Shah # 1. He is well known for his performance with his band "Compas Jupiter" which won accolades both at national and international levels.
David Métellus is also known as "Ti Coca". He created his first music group "Youth Star" with his childhood friend in 1971. In 1976, he founded a musical group to animate restaurants in Petion-ville. In 1981, he formed another group "Wanga-Nègès" using traditional instruments such as the drum, banjo, acoustic guitar, maracas and manoumba. David earned international repute with "Wanga-Nègès, and made international tours in France, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Switzerland, the USA, Hungary, Austria, Poland, Surinam, etc.
André Dejean is a trumpeter and songwriter who made his debut with the fanfare of the High School of Petion-ville. He promoted the growth of Haitian music in the international market. He is one of the Dejean brothers of the musical group "Les Frères Dejean."
