The 39 years old Laurent Lamothe who is currently the minister of Foreign Affairs, was nominated on Tuesday evening by the senate. This is a ratification of president's Michel choice. Laurent has been friends with the president for some time now. The post for prime minister has been vacant for 6 months since president Michel got into a personal indoor crash with the former holder of the post, Garry Conille. Martelly picked Laurent Lamothe as his nominee in March after his first prime minister.

Laurent Lamothe was in the telecommunication business before he turned into politics. He won the elections by 19 to 3 in his favor. The results, though not rigged, were criticized by opposition leader Steven Benoit who claimed that Laurent has not lived in the country for the past 5 years and has not been paying his taxes. Now all that remains is for Laurente Lamothe to go through the Chamber of Deputies for final approval. The new prime minister will be in charge of jump starting rebuilding efforts related to the massive 2010 earthquake that have been slow to take hold in part because of unabated infighting between Martelly and his critics in Parliament. With a prime minister the country will be able to speed up the process of reconstruction.

It is official. The persen selectd to replace Dr. garry Conille for the posiion of Prime Minister in Haiti is no other than Mr. Laurent Lamorthe.

Laurent Salvador Lamothehas been the Minister of Foreign Affairs since October 2011.

Laurent Salvador Lamothe was born on August 14, 1972 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He has a Masters degree in business management and has become a successful businessman. Laurent Salvador Lamothe founded Global Voice Group, a telecommunications company with his business partner, Patrice Baker.

Now that h selection is made by President Michel Martelly, the ball is on the court of the Haitian lagislators to confirm Laurent Lamothe as Prime Minister.

President Michel Martelly went on Television yesterday to reassure the Haitian population that the government is stable following the sudden resignation of Prime Minister Garry Conille.

What will happen next. As we all know the two branches of the Haitian government have not been in good working relationship lately. Following a meeting that took place recently at the private home of Prime Minister Garry Conille where there were allegation that the President insulted many Haitian Senators and Deputies who were present, many have decided to limit their interactions with the president. It is now obvious to many people who have been following politic in Haiti to conclude that the conflict has escalated. The original confrontation that existed between Haitian President Michel Martelly and the Senate now involves Prime minister Garry Conille and some are asking whether this will lead to an eventual vacancy in the post of Prime Minister.

The president told the ministers not to comply with the senate investigation while the PM asked them to do so to avoid a political crisis.

Breaking News. President Michel Martelly made a surprise visit during a meeting at the residence of Prime Minister Garry Conille and it was not to praise them. Quite the contrary.

According to information obtained from Radio Kiskeya, one of the senators who was present at the meeting made a phone call to President Martelly, stating that a group of Senators was plotting a coup D'Etat against him.

Some Senators reported that they had to leave as President Martelly became furious and was very offensive toward many of them.

This is not a good way to get into a job. It seems like last weekend, there were some heat coming out of the presidential family. According to rumors, there was an altercation between the Prime Minister designate Dr. Garry Conille and President's Chief of Staff, Mr. Thierry Mayard-Paul. This is what I heard:

Thierry Mayard-Paul presented an undated letter of resignation to Dr. Conille. The letter that was written by Mr. Thierry Mayard-Paul, according to the source, was not welcomed at all. The "Haitian Joudalist" learned that things quickly got out of control where matters had escalated to a violent a verbal altercation between the President's Chief of Staff, Mr. Thierry Mayard-Paul and the Prime Minister-designate, Dr. Garry Conille.

This video will definitely mean something to many Haitians. It was a time when Haiti was under the dictatorship of Jean-Claude Duvalier. Some people have positive memories of the Duvalier the same way some have negative memories. Then if this is the case why did the president nominate Dr. Garry Conille for Prime Minister. According to Article 157 of the Haitian constitution, the Prime Minister of Haiti must reside in the country for five consecutive years. Does that mean the president does not have any respect for the Haitian constitution?

According to President Michel Martelly, before nominating Dr. Garry Cornille, he took the advice of his legal team. The president also stated that the fact that Garry Conille has not resided in Haiti for the past five years is not a hidden history.
