Opening Of The Solar Powered Mirebalais Hospital In Haiti

Construction
Cost of construction of the hospital is around 17 million dollars. It is a national public hospital with around three hundred beds. Construction has been completed and the hospital is due for opening in March.
According to information released, one of the largest ventures taken up by Partners in Health has been the Mirebalais Hospital in Haiti. The hospital is an initiative made jointly by Zanmi Lasante, a partner organization in Haiti and PIH with the help of Electircite d' Haiti.
Energy Supply At The Hospital
One thousand eight solar panels have been used to power this hospital project in Haiti. The solar panels help produce hundred percent of the energy required by the hospital especially during the peak hours.
Surplus energy required is brought back into the grid with the help of energy produced by the solar panels.
Benefits Of Opening The Hospital In Haiti
It is expected that the hospital will employ approximately eight hundred staff from the local areas of Haiti. Around 185,000 people in the Mirebalais area will benefit from the services provided by the hospital especially in primary care.
The organization is fighting the spread of cholera. To lead the efforts by United Nations against cholera in Haiti is Dr. Paul Farmer, the co-founder appointed by the Partners in Health Company.
