Putting the words of Haiti's Tourism Minister, Stephanie B. Villendrouin in a prophetic light, the survey ranked Abaka Bay, Ile-à-Vache's Indian name, as 57th on its beautiful world beaches list. This is undoubtedly good press for the country, and the Tourism Ministry is already making use of the accolade.
Abaka Bay's ranking, a ministry declaration states, demonstrates that the country 'has everything to accommodate tourists, including beautiful beaches.' There is great room and need for investment in the opportunities and raw potential for the country.
The tourism minister had recently unveiled her ministry's developmental agendas, upon which Ile a Vache featured prominently. They wish to create a tourism industry that can be sustained on the island and open the door to tourism across borders. She now states that it is the time for Haitian businesspeople and possible investors to back this mission and help create income and jobs within Haiti.
Also making the list at 34th place was Cayo Paraiso, in the Dominican Republic's northwest and, rounding out the top five were, Anse de Grande Saline in ST. Barths, Anse Source d'Argent in the Seychelles, Grace Bay in the Turks and Caicos Islands, Rabbit Beach in Italy and, at number one, Grande Anse Beach, also in the Seychelles.
