At least 254 Haitians migrants dead at sea within past 5 years

On May 4, 2007, it was reported that at least 61 Haitians migrants die at sea near Providenciales in Turks and Caicos Islands. The sailboat was carrying over 160 people.
On April 20, 2008: 22 Haitians died when a Speedboat carrying over 25 Haitian migrants sank near Nassau, Bahamas as they were attempting to reach the coast of Florida.
May 13, 2009, at least 9 Haitian migrants died as they were trying to reach Florida
On July 27, 2009, 81 Haitian migrants were estimated to be dead off Turks and Caicos Islands. There were only 119 survivors on a boat that was carrying 200 Haitians
on February 7, 2012, At least 51 Haitians are estimated to be dead when their boat capsized near Dominican Republic.
November 26, 2013 was the latest recorded tragedy when over 30 Haitians died after their overloaded freighter capsized in the Bahamas
