Collecting Child Support From Abusive Parent While Ensuring Safety

However, this doesn't mean that the abusive parent can get away from the responsibility of providing child support. Here are some ways to collect child support from an abusive parent without fear for your and your children's safety.
Once you or any of your children have been threatened or hurt, do not hesitate to file a report at the local police department. The police can protect you, as well as accompany you to the house to get your clothes and other valuables.
If you do not want to be found by your abusive partner, you can join in an Address Confidentiality Program, which keeps details of your home, work, and your children's school confidential. You will be given a substitute mailing address so that your abusive partner won't be able to locate you.
Moreover, the state can provide you public assistance so that you don't have to be directly involved in collecting child support. There may be instances that you won't feel safe while your abusive partner is still around. If this happens, you can ask a court to grant you a civil order of protection, which will keep your abusive partner away from you and the kids.
