Mudslides and rainstorms killed 13 in Haiti and threaten even more

For the past seven days, Haiti has been getting more than its fair share with heavy rain in the Port-au-Prince region. According to Haiti's Civil Protection Department, so far a total of 13 people has been reported dead. However, according to officials, this number is likely to rise as the Haitian authority are assessing the damage caused by the recent rain and flood.

On Monday night, the southern region of Haiti received between four and six inches of rain within a six hour period. The rain has caused floods and mudslides. The situation got so bad that some people to find refuge on their rooftops.

Earlier this week, rain and overflow caused the evacuation of several dozens of families who live around Lake Azuei.

Petion-Ville is one of the areas most affected. Claire Lydie Parent, the Mayor of Petion-Ville, is expecting more casualty in the Petion-Ville region due to flood.

The Cholera factor!!!!

Many are concerned that the heavy rain and flooding will aggravate the cholera problem in Haiti. So far more than 5000 people have been killed by the cholera outbreak in Haiti.

The problem is not over yet....

According to the International Desk of the U.S. National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration, more rain is expected in Haiti on Wednesday

DOES ANYBODY KNOW ANYBODY IN THE GOVERNMENT, SUGGEST THAT THEY DIG A PASSAGE FOR THE WATER TO FLOW OUT.

I also heard that the flood has turned streets in Port-au-Prince into rivers and forcing motorists to abandon their cars.
