Beginning in her teens, Dawn Angeliqué Richard's first musical gig was with Realiti, a New Orleans group. A few years later she signed with Yeah! Brother Records, where she made her debut album, Been a While with the song "So What", produced by NeYo. Sean "Diddy" Combs, head of Bad Boy Records, planned to release the album, but it was postponed.

This allowed him to get Richard out of her contract at Yeah! Brother. After leaving Yeah! Brother, she signed with Comb's Bad Boy Worldwide Entertainment. In the middle of all this activity, Richard became cheerleader for the NBA New Orleans Hornets and attended University of New Orleans.

Dawn Angeliqué Richard finally gained national exposure, when she became a reality star in MTV's Making the Band 3, which led to an audition for a girl group formed by Combs, called Danity Kane, inspired by the comic book character. Working at her usual feverish pace, in 2008 Richard performed a remix "Fast Car" and the song "Phase", both of which were downloaded from the Internet. Working with Bad Boy Records, Richard composed for Combs, which landed her a spot in Diddy-Dirty Money , Comb's group.

Since 2010, Richard has been working on her album, Prelude to A Tell Tale Heart, with re-mixed songs "Me, Myself and Y", "These Tears", and "Let Love In". Richard's first solo outing as a recording artist will occur upon the release of triple albums Golden Heart, BlackHeart, and RedemptionHeart in 2012. Richard's prolific output doesn't stop with the Heart series. She has already released SMFU (Save Me From U) from her Armor On album, which has produced the hit, "Bombs."

Dawn Angeliqué Richard will continue on with MTV's Making the Band 3. It seems she has made up her mind to reach iconic status, what with the frenetic pace she keeps up. With a throaty voice, which captivates her fans, Richard seems destined to make it to the top in the music scene, with a shot at international fame.
