Most projects with a cost overrun usually do not go over 10 to 20 percent of the original cost. However this is not the case for the Delmas Viaduct that was inaugurated in August, 2015. According to the candidate for President, Jude Celestin who actually came up with this plan to build the Viaduct, the entire project was estimated at 6 million US dollars.

The actual cost of this project funded by PetroCaribe is 16.5 million US dollars. It was built by the Dominican construction company Estrella. This is close to three times more to original amount it was estimated for.

We have learned that a candidate for Deputy for Delmas qualified to go to second round is a Convicted Cocaine trafficker. Ernst Jeudy was charged with cocaine trafficking after close to half-pound of cocaine on him by a trained dog at Miami International Airport

According to Miami Herald, Ernst Jeudy pleaded guilty for cocaine trafficking in 1987 and was sent to jail for three and half years

The situation at the St. Joseph's Home for Boys is not a feel-good orphan story. In fact, it is one of the worst types of orphan stories one may hear as the group's founder, Michael Karl Geilenfeld, was arrested on Friday, September 5, on allegations of abuse.

Geilenfeld, an American, was taken into custody to face interrogation on suspicion of charges of criminal conspiracy and indecent assault. The spectacle created as he was detained at the orphanage in Delmas was not made worse by any resistance from the 62-yearl-old man. In fact, he might have been expecting it as the allegations of abuse were levelled against him months ago, leading to the removal of the children from the orphanage early in the year.

The Haitian National Police (HNP) was established in 1995, and since then has developed a reputation for brutality and class bias. Delmas, a Port-au-Prince neighborhood, is an example of police brutality residents complain about. One of the places where tent cities still house 2010 earthquake survivors, local police earlier this year clubbed two men, causing the death of one, in an encampment.

In response to the growing problem of police mistrust by Haitians, the U.S. State Department has initiated a community policing program. The goal is to engender trust between the community and police. The reason is to raise the apprehension rate and decrease crime.

It seems that the Haitian government has a comprehensive plan to alleviate traffic problem in the Haitian Capital of Port-au-Prince. According to information retrieved from Le Nouvelliste, a major newspaper in the country, the Department of Public Works is planning to build major infrastructure in Port-au-Prince.

In an effort to eliminate bottlenecks and traffic jam in specific points such as Carrefour and Delmas, the Department of Public Works will build motorways in these municipalities.

According to the same source, funding has already been allocated for the project with work expected to start soon.

In 2004, according to key government statistics, 20% of the roads in Haiti were made up of highways. According to a recent announcement by the Minister of Public Works Transport and Communication (MTPTC), Jacques Rousseau, at the Council of Ministers, that number will have a slight, yet significant, bump with the plans to construct two new highways.

Funded by the Venezuelan gift that keeps on giving, PetroCaribe, the $30 million dollar venture will erect Elevated Highway Interchanges at Carrefour and Delmas. The plans are set to start in April, and with billboards to be erected announcing the details to the public post-haste, and in the most effective manner for the people who traverse these two areas and are so, set to benefit most from the project, the two new highways are expected to greatly relieve the congestion which grows to epidemic proportions on a daily basis along both commutes. The heavy traffic also contributes to the poor state of the current roadway, as the same government statistics show that 80% of the network is said to be in either bad or very bad condition.

It is perhaps the wealth of experience to be had growing up with the flavorful culture of Haiti, combined with the inherent 'growing up female' narrative to mold them why women Haitian writers number so many and are so excitingly prolific in their works. This undeniably compelling group of ladies has received an honor even greater than the awards recently issued to 8 among their field with this further acknowledgement of the worth of their words.

The setting was the Municipal Palace of Delmas, the day, Monday April 1, 2013, our protagonists, 8 wonderful writers whose dedication to their various forms of writing, as poets, short-story and novel writers, art critics and educators, was honored by the Ministry of Culture in a ceremony alive with music from the Congolese 'Drums of Brazza'. Edith Lataillade, Marilisse Neptune Rouzier, Marianne Lehmann, Marie-Alice Théard, Evelyne Trouillot, Marie-Marthe Balin Paul, Charlotte Barlatier Cadet and Paula Clermont Péan were given plaques of merit honoring their literary contributions that have benefited the literature of Haiti by enriching it and giving voice to the issues faced by women in Haitian society.

If there is one Haitian official that does keep the media occupy, it's none other than our famous Deputy of Tabarres Delmas, Arnel Belizaire. After his recent issue at Haiti Post office and the Parliamentary session, now, according to some unconfirmed report, Deputy Arnel Belizaire has been denied the renewal of his diplomatic visa by the U.S. consulate in Port-au-Prince.

Can someone confirm this?

According to haitinews509.net, the information was confirmed by Deputy Arnel Belizaire that his application for the renewal of his diplomatic visa not granted by the United States.

Assuming this is a fact. Can a foreign government just make a unilateral decision without presenting causes to denied renewal of diplomatic visa of an official?

The famous "Ti Sony" attempted to seek political asylum in January, 2013 at the US Embassy, according to sources. He was afraid for attempts on his life.

Sony Thelusma, AKA Ti Sony had filed a complaint against Jean Bertrand Aristide for exploitation.

His group had planned to put up a demonstration with a sit-in at the U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince. However, this did not turn out the way it was planed. Police in Delmas police was called by the American officials and as a result, Sony Thelusma, AKA Ti Sony and hid group were picked up and taken to jail by Delmas Police
