Jean Alix Civil Becomes A Part Of CSJP

Joining eight other judicial members, Jean Alix Civil is now part of a new panel of the Superior Council of Judicial Power (CSJP). Civil, Government Commissioner of the Court of First Instance of Petit Goâve, was elected by the Minister of Justice. He will now serve the CSJP, which was formed in a bid to strengthen the country's rule of law and improve the entire judicial system.

One of the main goals of the CSJP is to separate the power among the judicial, legislative and executive branches. Its members carry the responsibility to create a pool of skilled and capable judges and court employees, as well as to conduct relevant investigations.

It has been long that the judicial system in the country is believed to have been a "power under" the Executive. President of the Court of Cassation Arnel Alexis Joseph said that there has been a lack of respect for the Constitution and the judiciary has not been getting the authority and power it should have. But with the CSPJ's establishment, the entire system might be enhanced and organized better.

Aside from Civil, several other officials have been called to duty. These are Anel Alxis Joseph, Antoine Norgaisse, Thiers Malette, Max Elibert, Gustave Pharaon, Jean Etienne Mercier, Dilia Lemaire, and Nehemie Joseph. All of them were inaugurated during an official ceremony at the School of Magistrates. With the installation comes the responsibility to commit themselves to the CSPJ's plans and mission. The inauguration, which was made after meetings of members of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, has received a warm welcome.
