Fritzner Beauzile to Bring National Press of Haiti into the 21st Century

Among the changes the Government of Haiti, who has developed initiatives for NPH's modernization, will see are: encrypted technology for secure data transfer of state documents; updated copyright laws to protect electronic intellectual property; updated printing equipment at the NPH; reformed employee labor standards to improve working conditions; and partnerships with Information Technology companies, both domestic and abroad, to train workers in the new technologies.

The history of Beauzile's position begins in November of 1804 when Jean-Jacques Dessalines established the National Press of Haiti (NPH), under the rule of Pétion. The NPH published La Sentinelle, Le Télégraphe and Gazette Royale d'Hayti over the years, until in 1845, during the rule of President Philippe Guerrier, NPH launched Le Moniteur, Official Gazette of the Republic of Haiti. Many name changes, divisions, and merges later, the NPH and Le Moniteur remain intact as Haiti's official publications. National Press of Haiti and Le Moniteur come under the direction of the Ministry of Communications, whose Minister of Communication, Ady Jean Gardy, is also the founder of the Haitian Press Federation.

Director General Fritzner Beauzile realizes he has his work cut out for him, but claims he is committed to finding resources within the government and to seeking private investment to close the NPH deficit gap.
