Miss Haiti 2012 Christela Jacques Defends Her Title

Christela Jacques, recently crowned as Miss Universe Haiti 2012, is outraged by a petition circulated by her predecessor, Anedie Azael. The petition attacks the Miss Haiti Universe franchise owner, Magali Febles, and Christela.

Anedie charges Magali, resident of the Dominican Republic is incompetent in her duties. Magali answers Anedie is frustrated because her fiancé was unsuccessful in trying to wrest control of the franchise away from Magali.

It must noted here, contrary to Anedie's claims of Magali's incompetence, the reverse is true. The winner of the Miss Dominican Republic Universe title many years ago, Magali succeeded in making Haiti a participant in the Miss Universe Pageant again after its exclusion for over two decades.

It is thought Magali wrote the response, addressed to Anedie, on behalf of Christela, because of her extreme youth and inexperience in these matters. Christela is only 19 years old, the only teen to have won the crown.

Magali lashes out at Anedie, who she says criticized Christela's behavior during an interview, revealing her immaturity and unpreparedness to represent Haiti in the 2013 Miss Universe pageant. Magali defended Christela's mood that day as due to nerves and being away from her family for the first time.

Magali reminds Anedie that Magali was the one responsible for Anedie's participation and subsequent win of the Miss Universe Haiti title in 2011. Magali adds Anedie's own behavior, during her reign, as being ungrateful to her sponsors, and stealing property belonging to the franchise.
