Violence in Port-au-Prince and Cap-Haitian, following Election Results

Several incidents of violence were reported in the Capital and in Cap-Haitian. In Portail Leogane, Martissant, caseau, Centre, Delmas 33, Lalue, San Fil, Chanp de Mars, instances of tire burning, gun fires and stones throwing immediately after the results and throughout the evening. Traffic was almost non existent, people were avoiding these areas. Boyd units were out in force to counter the protests. Same situation in Route Nationale #1

In Cap-Haitian, a total of 10 arrests were made. Several incidents have been recorded there. There was a strong Police presence all over the city. Specially in Quartier Samary, Shada, Lafossette, Kanasa and Foujrol, gun fires and rock throwing were common throughout the evening. in "Rue 20", from letter L all the way to letter N Police presence was very strong. This is an area where the Pitit Desalin candidate, Moise Jean Charles, has lots of supporters. In "Lotbo Pont" may gun shots were also heard in several Cites surrendering the city.

Everyone is taking cover in their home.
