04/04/2011 18:24:45

The preliminary results for the second round of the legislative and presidential elections of March 20, 2011 have just been unveiled by the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP).

If the electoral calendar is not modified, the challenge period (contestations filed in accordance with the electoral law, by the candidates in the next 72 hours following the publication of results) will be held until April 15. It is necessary to wait 24/48 hours to get a confirmation from the CEP concerning the start and end date of the challenge period with the Departmental Electoral Challenges Office (BCED) and the National Electoral Challenges Office (BCEN).

Any change in the calendar will shift the date of final results, originally scheduled for April 16, 2011.

We expect the reactions of the two presidential candidates.
