Actor Robert De Niro Looking at Haiti as Possibility for His New Hotel

The movie star has invested capital in building his own hospitality enterprise, on a small scale, for some time now. A partner with sushi entrepreneur Nobu Matsushisa, they have invested in several successful restaurant ventures together. And Robert De Niro has built and operates the Greenwich Hotel in Manhattan's Tribeca neighborhood. The actor and Matsushisa's profitable operation of several Nobu restaurants has enabled them to build a Nobu Hotel in Las Vegas, set to open in fall 2012.
PM Lamothe is meeting with Actor, Robert De Niro, in anticipation of his visit to Haiti soon, to scout northern and southern locations of the country. De Niro is mulling over the possibility of erecting a hotel in Haiti. Haiti has reformed many of its own labor practices to attract more private investment, and PM Lamothe is looking for more ways to make Haiti a market for foreign investment.
