Maternal / Obstetrics Clinics Open in Thiotte and Anse-a-Pitre

Dr. Ted Lazarre stressed the effect the programs at Maternity SONUB and Obstetric Care Banane would have on reducing death and disease in these two provinces. He added the two communities would have equal access to maternity and birth services, delivered at a high level of care.
Minister Guillaume expressed his gratitude to all ministry partners that have supported the Haitian government in its efforts to lower neo-natal and maternal mortality rates. He spoke emphatically on his ministry's mission to make available, without bias, basic rights to maternal and neo-natal services in protection, treatment, and rehabilitation of mothers' and infants' needs.
The First Lady emphasized her office's commitment to continue to work towards new goals of lowering childbirth and neo-natal deaths. She encouraged all medical personnel to create reference libraries to educate Haitian women on their reproductive rights in family planning, and the informed choice of a birth control method to avoid unwanted pregnancies.
