Platform VERITE has announced its decision not to participate decided to participate in the upcoming election in Haiti. According to the coordinator General, Genard Joseph, this electoral process will enhance instability and dictatorship and he has recommended the formation of another CEP. Following the decision of the coordinator to remove Platform VERITE from the electoral process, several unanswered questions remain: Will the Candidates under the Platform who have been qualified to participate in the second round stop running?

Senate candidate Jean Renel Sénatus aka "zokiki" could not have a better weekend. He can now just wait for the other senators as he was declared winner of the senatorial election in the West Department by the Departmental Electoral Office of Litigation (BCED).

We just learned that the Candidate for Platform Pitit Desalin Moise Jean Charles has selected Daly Valet to become his campaign manager for the upcoming Presidential Election in Haiti. So far the reaction of the public has been mixed. Some think it was a good decision, and that Daly Valet will be able to bring a lot to the table, including his reputation. Others feel that if they put their head together, the Pitit Desalin party will be able to run a smart and successful campaign.

Daly valet is the star reporter of Radio Vision 2000, former director of the newspaper Le Matin Boulos and the Director General at Radio Trans Inter- 98.1 FM, C-Medias, Centre de Recherche Nouvelle Haiti. In the summer, on March 31, 2015, Daly Valet had announced his support for the "Pitit Dessalines" and had informed that he would endorse none other than the leader of the Platform Pitit Dessalines. The supporters of Pitit Dessalines are now more optimistic that Daly will bring fresh air for Moise Jean Charles and Moise should be taken more seriously by his opponents, because their unison will provide favorable momentum in a difficult campaign.

The Christian community has a candidate to represent the during the next election. On September 3, they selected Mr. Jean Clarens Renois as their candidate to run for President.

On Wednesday, September 2, 2015, Mediation Commission of the Protestant sector in Haiti, after a second round of discussions, selected journalist Clarens Renois as their sole candidate to run for the presidency. Clarens Renois was selected over two other candidates, Jean Chavannes Jeune and Paleme Jean Mathurin, by a high-level committee chaired by Rev. Gerald Bataille. Clarens Renois is a highly respected and well known personality in the professional, political and educational world and a well known figure in Haitian journalism for last 25 years.

The campaign season for the presidency of Haiti will officially begin this coming Wednesday which will be September 9. The Provisional Electoral Council just made the announcement.

The campaign season will extend from September 9 to October 23, 2015. The CEP requests that the party leaders, political groups and candidates to follow the provisions of sections 115 and 115.1 of the electoral Decree

The CEP also announced that they will conduct a press conference on Thursday, September 10 around 10:00 to provide further details and instructions.

After Jacky Lumarque and François Levelt another presidential candidate for the upcoming election in Haiti has been excluded from the race. This time, it is Mr, Jean Chevalier Sanon who has been excluded from the race for misrepresenting his nationality. According to the CEP, he is a Canadian citizen and has been holing a Canadian passport.

Investigation conducted by the CEP revealed that the candidate Jean Chevalier Sanon is in possession of a Canadian passport, number JK702380.

Mr. Jean Chevalier Sanon is in violation of section 135 of the Haiti Constitution, paragraph (1), 36 of the Electoral Decree, paragraph (a) which stipulates that to be elected president in Haiti, you must be a Haitian of origin and never renounce your nationality at the time of registration. As a consequence, his case will be transferred to the criminal criminal courts.

On Wednesday, the CEP removed two more candidates from the legislative election. The Provisional Electoral Council so far has disqualified a total of 16 candidates for their involvement in violence and disturbances at various polling stations on August 9.

The two candidates who received disqualification are: Lubern Pierre of Political party PHTK and Jackson Momplaisir of the LAPEH . These two candidates were running for deputy and according to Haiti election officials, Lubern Pierre was removed for his aggressive behavior toward two CEP officials on election day, and Jackson Momplaisir, for assault and other disruptions.

After the elimination of 14 candidates running in the first round of parliamentary elections of August 9, we can now expect that these results will cause less violence, disorder and street demonstrations. Does that mean that the CEP is home free?

Not at all.

Now instead of expecting one group of of candidates not to be satisfied with the result, there are some who are in deeper trouble and likely will continue to be in trouble for a long time to come. The candidates who have been identified as trouble makers and consequently kicked out of the election process will have a high hill to clime. Not only they have been removed from the current election, they will likely not be allowed to participate in future competitions as well. Even more painful, they will likely be faced with possible prison term and fine.

If nothing else, this decision will probably teach Haitian candidates a lesson. The CEP has announced that a total of 14 candidates have been eliminated for violence perpetrated during the last Haiti election of August 9, 2015.

13 candidates for Deputation and 1 candidate for Senate are out and no longer able to participate in Haiti election. The list which is provisional includes:
- Four candidates from PHTK
- Two candidates from Platform Verite
- One candidate from Fanmi Lavalas
- One candidate from Fusion

In the 2010 general election the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) covertly funded Michel Martelly's presidential bid. The money came when it looked as if Martelly might not get on the second ballot.

A dozen presidential candidates on voting day claimed ". . . the elections were a fraudulent mess . . .", and said the only way to guarantee a fair outcome was to begin the voting process again. Martelly supporters protested in the streets, claiming electoral fraud and predicting victory for Martelly.

The U.N. Peacekeeping Mission's, Edmond Mulet, assured Martelly, among other candidates, they would be on the second ballot, and to stop asking for the election to be cancelled. However days later when Martelly didn't make the second ballot, his supporters protested in the streets again.
