Radio Caraibes and Patrick Moussignac, Ranmasse, Jean Monard Metellus

AudioNow awarded Patrick Moussignac with Chairman's Award for Open Media Access and Social Engagement because of his innovative ideas which are geared not only towards the development of Radio Caraibes but also towards understanding the needs of the listeners.

Ranmasse, which is broadcasted by Radio Caraibes has been hosted by Jean Monard Metellus since 2004. Metellus is a respected and popular journalist who often becomes the ringleader in the show. He calls the show as people's courtroom and says that it is the single place where all ideas from across the society merge and the only place where those who make the news are brought together.

Radio Caraibes is not just popular for hosting Ranmasse but is also popular because it works with Haitian people to help them when they need it the most. The best example was the 2010 earthquake when Radio Caraibes built a makeshift studio right in front of its damaged building and allowed Haitians to use its generator to charging their cell phones which was the primary communication mode right after the devastation. While Radio Caraibes works for its business interest, it never forgot the people of Haiti and never forgot their needs. Through Ranmasse, the station is not just the place for people's voice rather, it is the voice of people of Haiti!
