With the theme 'Sida, mwen pap pran, mwen pap bay', the celebration welcomed the presence of Mrs. Martelly, along with other notables such as representatives from various multilateral organizations, U.S. Ambassador in Haiti, Pamela White, Minister of Public Health and Population, Dr. Florence D. Guillaume, and the Minister of Youth, Sports and Civic Action, Magalie Racine.

With a general call being for the people of Haiti, especially the young, to get themselves tested, the event included blood donation, free screenings and informative sessions. Of the initiative of the Multisectoral Coordinating Council (CCM), headed by the First Lady, Dr. Guillaume said, a commitment to prevent the further spread of the disease is present. She expressed confidence that the government would continue to give support to the drive as it hopes to maintain the health of young Haitians.

While AIDS has wreaked havoc on the Haitian population, as it has most other countries, rich or poor, around the world, President Michel Martelly, who spoke last at the ceremony, reminded the country that the responsibility was not only to stamp out AIDS, but all other sources of suffering to the population, including malnutrition, unemployment and illiteracy.
