The "Haitian Joudalist" just learned that Candidate Jude Celestin will withdraw from the Presidential race in Haiti this this Wednesday. Senator Jean-Charles reported that the official announcement of the withdraws will take place Wednesday, January 26, 2011.

The Haitian authority has been criticized for the way the 2010 election was handled. The United States is in support of the OAS recommendation, which is to drop Candidate Jude Celestin from the race in Favor of Michele Martelly to go to a runoff with Mirlande Manigat. New development following the public protest of the election results. The Haitian Joudalist just learned that Haiti Electoral Council agreed to recount the preliminary election results that cause mass demonstration all over Haiti. The Electoral Council also stated the three leading candidates for president, namely Mirlande manigat, Jude Celestin and Michel Martelly as well as the international election observers are invited to re-examine the votes at the official Tabulation Center.

Protests of the election started on the day of the election as polling places were closing.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Mrs. Mirlande Manigat called for an independent evaluation of the votes. She stated that preliminary results allocated to her do not correspond to reality. Michel Martelly urged his supporters to protest the results of the election nonviolently. Martelly stated: "Demonstrating without violence is the right of the people. I will be with you until the bald-head victory"

The Haiti Election results that put Mirlande Manigat and Jude Celestin in the lead to participate in the runoff election set protestation incidents all over Haiti. In Port-au-Prince, protesters set fire to the headquarter or the UNITE party, the political party of President Rene Preval and under which Jude Celestin is currently candidate.

It was reported that thousands of protesters rampaged divers neighborhoods in the capital. They set fire to the headquarter of the Unite party. We were able to see flames and smokes coming out of the facility before fire trucks arrived at the location and control the fire.

The results of the Haiti election 2010 put Mirlande Manigat and Jude Celestin in the lead to participate in the runoff election scheduled for January 16. However, supporters of candidates Michel Martelly, also known as Sweet Micky, did not accept the results quietly. It has been widely expected that the runoff election would be between Michel Martelly and Mirlande Manigat.

Supporters of the popular musician and presidential candidate Michel Martelly set up barricades and burned tires throughout the night and also on the day following the election results were publicized. Hundreds of protesters blocked streets, some buildings were set on fire. One protester said to the news media:" It is not power that should give power"

Michel Martelly has 21.84 percent and Jude Celestin, 22.48 percent, a difference of less than one percent. Supporters of Michel Martelly, wrecking properties, setting barricades with stones, burning tires, or using any means available to disrupt activities. In Les Cayes, It was reported that several government buildings were burned down.

The Haitian population now only have two choices as the CEP announced the result of the 2010 Haiti election.

Coming first is Mirlande Manigat with 336,878 votes or 31.37 percent of the votes. Jude Celestin was second with 241,462 votes or 22.48 percent of the votes. Michel Martelly was third, with 234,617 votes or 21.84 percent of the votes. Jean Henri Ceant, with 87,834 votes or 8.18 percent of the votes. Jacques-Edouard Alexis came with 32,932 votes or 3.07 percent of the votes. Charles Henry Baker, 25,512 votes or 2.38 percent. Chavannes Jeunes had a total of 19,348 votes or 1.8 percent of the votes. All other candidates have less than one percent of the votes.

This is it folks. The two candidates qualified for the runoff election in Haiti are Jude Celestin and Mirlande Manigat. The Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) just releases this information today.

No more rumors, no more speculations, no more guessing. Jude Celestin will confront Mirlande Manigat in the run-off election which is scheduled to take place on January 16, 2011. We know now for the next five years, Haiti will be governed by either Madame Manigat or Mr. Celestin.

Mirlande Manigat, the presidential candidate for the Rally of Progressive National Democrats (RDNP), was one of the 12 candidates who declared that the 2010 Haiti election should be cancelled because of fraud. However, when she realized that she would likely be among the front runners and would be qualified to participate in the runoff election, she changed her mind.

According to the United Nation, the Preval government will honor the result of the election. Jude Celestin came out of his silence since the end of the election to give a hint that he may have lost and that he will accept the result of the election without any protest.

It seems to me that Jude Celestin is moving further and further away from the picture. If that is the case, then who is in and who is out?

Will there be a runoff on January 16 or will we know the next president of Haiti on December 7 when the CEP will give partial result of the election?

The 2010 Haiti election day was marked by mass irregularities, chaos, confusion, riot, and demand for annulment of the election. Most of the candidates were united against the candidate of the UNITE, Jude Celestin, whom they accused for creating al types of irregularities in order to still the election. The blame went directly to the actual president Rene Preval, for wanting to keep his political party in power.

The chaos started well before the polling places were open. Long lines of people waiting for polling places to be open. In some cases they did not open until 9 or 10 am in the morning.

The latest poll for Haiti Presidential election showed candidate Jude Celestin is gaining ground.

According to the Miami Herald, Mirlande Manigat is still the front runner, however Jude Celestin is right behind her. The report from Miami Herald gave Mirlande Manigat a lead of 23.2 percent of the likely voters if the election was taking place at this time and for Jude Celestin, 22.5 percent. This latest poll was sponsored by the economic forum.

I do not know what Jude Celestin is doing, but so far he seems to be the most successful candidate in the Haitian election race. With about a Month left for the Haiti election, it seems like the picture is getting more clear that the real fight for the presidency will likely between Jude Celestin and Mirlande Manigat.
